WordPress does not overwrite files that have the same name. Instead, it appends a number or random value at the end of it to make it unique: \nfilename.png will be turned to filename-1.png<\/em><\/p>\n\n

If you do not want that, this plugin is for you. Instead of adding it as a separate file, it will replace the file if it is within the same folder<\/strong>.\nHere's a list of all the available features:<\/p>\n\n

    PLEASE NOTE: After a file is replaced, the old file is still visible within the media window. Once you refresh, it is gone.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

    3. Search for WP Media Overwrite<\/code> and click 'Install Now' or click on the upload<\/code> link to upload wp-media-overwrite.zip<\/code><\/li>\n
    4. Click on Activate plugin<\/code><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n

      No. You need to activate the setting within your WordPress dashboard -> Media -> WP Media Overwrite<\/p><\/dd>\n\n<\/dl>\n\n\n
