Create and customize the widget in Widget House, then enter its Widget ID in the plugin settings. Widget House is an independent service and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google. This plugin is developed by Widget House to display reviews from Google through the Widget House service. The plugin accepts and validates only the widget’s UUID. Use the Gutenberg block or a shortcode to choose where the widget appears. Features in version 0.1.2: * Save a default widget ID for your site. * Enter a Widget House widget UUID in settings. * Place the Widget House Reviews for Google block in the WordPress block editor. * Use [widget_house_google_reviews] or specify a widget ID in the shortcode. * Enable external service loading explicitly in the plugin settings. Widget design, review sources, and available layouts are managed in the Widget House configurator. The service offers layouts such as a review slider, carousel, grid, and badge. Availability and limits depend on your service plan. Version 0.1.2 supports one widget per page. Only the first valid plugin placement on a page is rendered; additional placements are skipped. Different pages can use different widget IDs. There is no account sign-in, widget library, or widget designer inside WordPress. #### Account, pricing, and branding A Widget House account and a published Google Reviews widget are required. Sign up or sign in on the Widget House website; the plugin does not ask for your account password or store account tokens. The WordPress plugin is free. The separate hosted service has free and paid plans, with its own usage limits and terms. A free service plan may display “Powered by Widget House” branding. This plugin does not remove service branding or change plan limits. Check [current plans](https://widget-house.com/pricing) before use. The GPL license applies to the packaged WordPress plugin. Widget House’s remote service and hosted runtime are separate and governed by the service terms. #### External services and visitor data This plugin uses the Widget House hosted service to display the widget. Before enabling service loading, review its [Privacy Policy](https://widget-house.com/privacy) and [Terms of Service](https://widget-house.com/terms). After an administrator enables external service loading, a page containing a valid plugin block or shortcode loads: * The hosted loader at https://cdn.widget-house.com/google-reviews/scripts/install- widget.js. * A widget iframe from https://app.platform.widget-house.com/google-reviews-widget. The service loader passes the widget ID, an instance ID, the parent origin, window width, and the full current page URL to the iframe. The full URL can include query parameters and a URL fragment. Normal browser requests also disclose network information such as the visitor’s IP address and browser metadata. The widget may request additional service or review assets. The service’s privacy policy describes purposes including widget delivery, usage limits, security, and diagnostics, and possible use of cookies and similar technologies. Do not enable the widget on pages whose URLs contain confidential information. The administrator’s checkbox enables the external service for the site; it is not a visitor consent banner or a consent-management integration. Site owners must assess their own privacy notices and any visitor consent requirements before loading the widget. To stop this plugin from loading the service, disable external service loading in its settings, remove its blocks and shortcodes, or deactivate the plugin. Clear page caches after changing loading settings. In WordPress, open Plugins > Add New Plugin > Upload Plugin. Upload the plugin ZIP, install it, and activate it. 2. [Create a Widget House account](https://widget-house.com/auth/sign-up), or sign in to your existing account on the Widget House website. 3. Create a Google Reviews widget, select its review source and design, and publish it. Open Install and copy the 36-character Widget ID shown there. 4. Open Settings > Widget House in WordPress. Enter the Widget ID. Review the external service disclosure, enable service loading if appropriate for your site, and save. 5. Add the Widget House Reviews for Google block to a page, or insert the default shortcode below. Use only one widget per page. 6. Publish or update the page and check the live page on desktop and mobile. Use the saved default widget: ``` [widget_house_google_reviews] ``` Or replace YOUR_WIDGET_UUID with the UUID from your published Widget House widget: ``` [widget_house_google_reviews id="YOUR_WIDGET_UUID"] ``` The block’s registered name is `widget-house/google-reviews`. ## FAQ ### Do I need a Widget House account? Yes. Create, publish, and edit your widget on the Widget House website. Version 0.1.2 uses a manual Widget ID workflow. There is no account connection inside WordPress. ### Where can I find the Widget ID? Open your published widget in Widget House and select Install. Copy the 36-character Widget ID, then enter that UUID in the plugin settings. Do not enter your account password, an API key, or other credentials. ### Is a widget ID the same as a Google Place ID? No. Use the UUID assigned to your published Widget House widget. A Google Place ID or a Google Maps URL cannot be used as the shortcode’s id value. ### Can I use an existing Widget House widget? Yes. Copy the Widget ID from your existing published Google Reviews widget. ### How do I change colors, layout, or reviews? Edit the widget in the Widget House configurator and publish your changes there. This WordPress plugin places the hosted widget; it does not edit the review content or design. ### Can I display multiple widgets on one page? Version 0.1.2 supports one Widget House reviews placement per page because of the hosted loader’s current behavior. Only the first valid plugin placement is rendered. Use different pages for different widgets. ### Why is the widget not showing? Check that the widget is published, the saved ID is valid, and external service loading is enabled. Confirm your service plan is active and within its limits. Clear your site’s cache and check whether a browser extension, content security policy, or consent tool blocks the service domains. Contact support with your WordPress version and the error message; do not include passwords or private page URLs. ### Can I see live reviews in WordPress Preview? Live reviews load on published pages. WordPress preview URLs can contain a private preview nonce, and the current Widget House service receives the full page URL. To keep that nonce local, the plugin does not load the service on WordPress previews. The editor shows a local layout example; check your published page or a published page on your staging site for the actual widget. ### Is the plugin an unlimited free reviews service? No. The plugin is free, while the Widget House service applies its own plans, quotas, and branding. Review the current pricing and terms linked above. ### Does the plugin add a visitor consent banner? No. Its service-loading setting is an administrator control.
