This plugin makes WordPress treat whyp.it as a trusted embed provider, so pasting a track or collection link on its own line turns it into the player – in the block editor, the classic editor, and the Embed block. **Why a plugin is needed at all** WordPress can already find Whyp’s player on its own. But it treats providers it discovers differently from ones on its built-in list: their markup is sanitized and the player is wrapped in a restrictive sandbox. Inside that sandbox the player cannot load its own styling or scripts, so what you see is a black box with a dead play button. Registering Whyp as a known provider is the fix, and that is all this plugin does. There are no settings. **What you get** * Paste `https://whyp.it/tracks/...` or `https://whyp.it/collections/...` on its own line and it becomes a player. * Private tracks work too – paste the share link, token and all. * Set a default preset on Whyp and turn on _Apply my default preset to my existing embeds_ in your Whyp dashboard, and every plain-link embed follows it – restyle every player on your site without editing a single post. * Links you pasted before installing the plugin are refreshed automatically. If you want per-embed customization – colours, controls, size – copy the embed code from Whyp’s **Share Embed** dialog and paste it into a Custom HTML block instead. That route carries the settings in the code and needs no plugin. **External service** When you embed a whyp.it link, your site asks `https://api.whyp.it/api/oembed` for the player markup. This is the standard oEmbed exchange and it is the only request the plugin causes; it sends the link you pasted and nothing else. Upload the plugin folder to `/wp-content/plugins/`, or install it from the Plugins screen. 2. Activate it. 3. Paste a whyp.it track or collection link on its own line in any post or page. ## FAQ ### I pasted a link before installing and it still looks broken Load any admin page once. The plugin clears WordPress’s cached copy of the broken embed on its first admin visit after activation, and the post renders the real player on its next load. ### Can I change the player’s colours? Yes, in two ways. Set a default preset in your Whyp dashboard and turn on _Apply my default preset to my existing embeds_, and every plain-link embed follows it. Or copy the customized embed code from Whyp’s Share Embed dialog into a Custom HTML block for a one-off look. ### Does this work with private tracks? Yes. Paste the share link from Whyp, which carries the access token, and the player renders. Revoking the token on Whyp stops the player on your site too. ### Does it work with the classic editor? Yes.
