How to use gmail in TLS mode?

For using Gmail Smtp Server with this plugin then set the following details

  • Smtp Host smtp.gmail.com
  • Smtp Port usually 587.
  • Username: Your gmail username.
  • Password: Your gmail password.

What is the difference between SSL and TLS types of encryption’s?

TLS (Transport Layer Security) and SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) are protocols that provide data encryption and authentication between applications and servers in scenarios where that data is being sent across an insecure network, such as checking your email.
The terms SSL and TLS are often used interchangeably or in conjunction with each other (TLS/SSL), but one is in fact the predecessor of the other — SSL 3.0 served as the basis for TLS 1.0 which, as a result, is sometimes referred to as SSL 3.1.

Which is more secure – SSL or TLS?

It used to be believed that TLS v1.0 was marginally more secure than SSL v3.0, its predecessor.
However, SSL v3.0 is getting very old and recent developments, such as the POODLE vulnerability have shown that SSL v3.0 is now completely insecure (especially for web sites using it).

Reviews

Just an advert for other plug-ins

Displays spam notifications which say theme requires other plug-ins to work correctly.

This is on a completely custom theme so clearly this is not true – just a way to generate downloads of other pug-ins from the same ‘author’. Unfortunately very similar named plug-in to the thing it copies so is confusing. Download the real WP Mail SMTP.

Show fake instalassion notice

I didn’t even tried to use this plugin as it ask users to add other plugins from the same dev saying these are the theme bundled plugin which are needed to make sure your theme works perfectly.
When in reality it is this plugin which is showing this message. Completely bad experience. Deleted all plugin that are developed by this dev.
On the other hand https://wordpress.org/plugins/easy-wp-smtp/ seems a perfect plugin, no extra push to add more plugin and does perfectly what it says.

don't buy webriti products or themes

webriti is not a good place to buy things period. i’ve been ripped off. promised one thing, got something very different. no real documentation. support forums are terrible. wasted $50. go somewhere else.
