## Description

Webpapa LMS is a clean, streamlined learning management system built directly on
WordPress’s own native features, including HTML5 video playback. Build a course
from sections called Elements, add Lessons and Quizzes, and publish it: no lengthy
tutorials required to get to grips with it.

This free version gives you everything needed to get set up right away. If you need
to deliver basic health and safety or induction training to employees, this is one
of the simplest ways to do it: build your library once, and yearly refreshers and
new starter inductions become routine from then on. Should you require additional
features, the Pro version adds the extras found in larger academic LMS platforms.

The interface looks deliberately uncluttered out of the box, but a lot of the plugin’s
flexibility lives in Settings, where every visual element: sidebar, header, buttons,
ticks and crosses, can be recoloured to match your own branding. It’s a genuinely
lightweight, configurable platform for delivering structured training.

#### Features

 * This free version doesn’t handle user registration or login itself, it assumes
your WordPress site’s user access is already set up.
 * Any logged-in user automatically gets a personal dashboard and can enrol in courses.
 * A clean, distraction-free interface for students.
 * Courses are structured as Elements (sections) containing Lessons and Quizzes,
with a left sidebar and Previous/Next navigation to move through them in order.
 * Add a quiz at the end of each Element to reinforce what was just covered, or
include as many quizzes as the course needs.
 * Quiz feedback is configurable: a student can see whether each answer was correct
after every question, as a summary at the end, or not at all. The number of retry
   attempts allowed is configurable too.
 * Any quiz can be marked as the course’s Final Test, typically the last one, with
its own feedback style, retry limit and passmark.
 * A built-in Question & Answer panel for every lesson lets students ask questions
and tutors reply, using WordPress’s own Comments system.
 * An automatic, pausable study timer per lesson, so a tutor can see genuine time
spent, not just whether a lesson was clicked into. It automatically stops counting
after 10 minutes if left running, so time isn’t credited if a student is away
   from their keyboard.
 * A student dashboard shows enrolled courses and progress at a glance, plus a wishlist
for queuing courses to take later.
 * Tutor-side Reports give a full lesson-by-lesson and quiz-by-quiz breakdown of
   every student’s progress.
 * A tutor can reset a student’s course back to un-enrolled status at any time,
useful when a retake is needed after a briefing.
 * Mark any user as a Tutor from their WordPress profile screen to have them appear
   in the course Author dropdown.
 * Also from the WordPress profile a user can be blocked from the dashboard and
all course content, without affecting their access anywhere else on the site.
 * Full colour and branding control from Settings: sidebar, header, buttons, ticks
   and crosses, all themeable.
 * Uninstalling leaves your data untouched by default. Turn on one setting if you
would rather remove everything from your WordPress database permanently.

## FAQ

### Does Webpapa LMS cost anything?

No, Webpapa LMS is completely free. Webpapa LMS Pro is a separate, paid add-on for
extras like downloadable certificates, but the free version is fully functional
on its own.

### Can I sell access to my courses?

Not in the free version, there’s no built-in payment or checkout. Students enrol
in courses for free once logged in. Selling paid access is planned for Webpapa LMS
Pro.

### Who is Webpapa LMS for?

Webpapa LMS is built for small businesses that want a training portal for their
own employees: streamlined and simple to use. The free version covers everything
needed to run an internal training programme. If you need a full academic feature
set with multiple tutors, multiple payment gateways, and a matching settings screen,
that’s a different, more specialised kind of plugin, which this free version does
not cater to.

### Does Webpapa LMS work with any WordPress theme?

Yes. Webpapa LMS doesn’t depend on any particular theme, it uses standard WordPress
templates for courses, lessons and quizzes. It’s built to integrate closely with
WordPress, so it feels like a native part of your site rather than a bolted-on add-
on.

### Is Webpapa LMS easy to install and remove?

Yes. Install and activate it like any other WordPress plugin, no configuration required
to get started. If you ever want to remove it, there’s a “Delete all data the next
time this plugin is deleted” option in Settings, switch that on first and Webpapa
LMS will clean up everything it created: courses, lessons, quizzes, enrolment records
and settings, leaving your WordPress installation exactly as it was before. It’s
off by default, so nothing is removed unless you choose to.

### What’s the difference between Webpapa LMS and Webpapa LMS Pro?

The free version covers everything needed to build and present a course library:
courses, lessons and quizzes, with detailed reports on student progress and the
ability to reset courses and quizzes on demand. Webpapa LMS Pro then adds extras
such as downloadable certificates, while keeping the same straightforward interface.

### Does Webpapa LMS handle user logins and access control?

Not directly, the free version assumes your site already handles user registration
and login the normal WordPress way. Any logged-in user can reach their LMS dashboard
and start taking a course. If you need tighter control over who can access your
training content, Webpapa LMS Pro adds a dedicated access layer built on WordPress’s
own security features.

### Does Webpapa LMS have its own course builder?

No. Webpapa LMS sticks with WordPress’s own post screens and standard meta boxes
to structure and manage a course, rather than a separate custom builder.

### Will I receive updates?

The core is built to be lean and stable, so at this basic level there’s often nothing
that needs changing. That said, WordPress itself evolves, and the occasional bug
fix or compatibility tweak is inevitable over time. Whenever an update is needed,
or a worthwhile small feature comes along, it’ll be released, always free, for the
lifetime of the free version.

### Why doesn’t the free version include certificates?

A certificate builder is a significant amount of code for what it does. In many
workplaces, training just needs to be tracked, not certificated. Where it does matter,
for competency sign-off, PQQs, or reassuring clients that training is current, Webpapa
LMS Pro adds this as a dedicated feature: certificates are issued automatically
on successful course completion, a tutor can choose which courses offer one, and
each certificate carries a unique reference that third parties can check for validation.

### Can students ask questions during a course?

Yes, the free version handles this using WordPress’s own Comments system. Each lesson
has a Q&A panel where a student can ask a question; it shows up for the tutor in
the normal wp-admin Comments screen, where they can reply directly, no separate
messaging system to manage.

### Is there any lesson tracking?

Yes. Each lesson has an automatic timer that starts as soon as the page opens, and
can be paused if the student steps away, so it only counts genuine study time. This
records how long a student has spent on each lesson, which the tutor can see in
Reports, useful for gauging real engagement rather than just whether a lesson was
viewed.

### Is Webpapa LMS open source?

Yes, like any properly licensed WordPress plugin, the free version is fully GPL.
