## Description

[Plugin details and documentation](https://wdonline.dk/wdonline-widget-manager/)

WDOnline Widget Manager manages existing widgets in registered theme widget areas,
including sidebars and footers. It supports classic widgets and WordPress block
widgets.

 * Show widgets to everyone, guests, logged-in visitors or selected user roles.
 * Hide an individual widget from everyone without deleting its content.
 * Include or exclude selected WordPress pages.
 * Set text and title sizes, text and title colors, link and hover/focus colors.
 * Style background, border and corner radius, with separate title and content inner
   spacing.
 * Align titles and content independently and choose font weights from 100 to 900.
 * Set a shared design and override individual fields per widget.
 * Copy a design between widgets and reset individual or shared designs.
 * Preview designs using sample content before saving.
 * Access settings from WD Online > Widget Manager. The classic Appearance > Widgets
screen includes Visibility and Design sections directly in each widget form.

No external services, tracking, remote requests or telemetry are used. Settings
are retained when deactivated and deleted when the plugin is uninstalled. Widget
content and assignments are never deleted by this plugin.

The shared WD Online menu reuses existing wdonline, wd-online or wdonline-menu parents.
The plugin creates wdonline only when no shared parent exists. Its own submenu is
wdonline-widget-manager; no shared core plugin is required.

The optional developer filter wdonline_wm_diagnostics supplies configuration counts,
version and validity information. It works without a diagnostics plugin and excludes
visitor and customer data. An integration adapter can call this filter; no unpublished
third-party diagnostics interface is assumed.

## Installation

 1. Upload the ZIP using Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin.
 2. Activate WDOnline Widget Manager.
 3. Add and save your widgets using Appearance > Widgets.
 4. On the classic Appearance > Widgets screen, expand a widget and open Visibility
    or Design.
 5. Change settings and click the widget’s normal Save button. WD Online > Widget Manager
remains available for shared design and an overview.
 6. Clear any page cache and verify the result on your website.

## FAQ

### How does split spacing work after an update?

Existing widget spacing remains unchanged until you set Title inner spacing or Content
inner spacing. Configuring either switches to separate spacing; the other uses its
inherited or previous saved spacing, or zero if none exists. Empty fields inherit
shared values. Both zero and empty are supported. Weight choices depend on the weights
available in your theme font. Classic widget titles and standard block headings
are supported. Nested block groups may keep their own spacing.

### What happens when design fields are empty?

The widget inherits the shared design. Empty shared fields retain your theme’s styling.
Reset widget design clears overrides; reset shared design clears the shared values.
Neither reset changes visibility rules.

### Does copying a design copy visibility?

No. It copies the source widget’s individual design fields only. Copying the shared
design copies its current fields. Save changes to apply the result.

### How do page and audience rules combine?

Both must match. Selected roles match if the visitor has any of those roles. Selecting
roles without checking a role hides the widget from everyone. Include mode with
no selected pages also hides it everywhere. Exclude mode with no selected pages
allows all site views.

### Are pages, posts and archives the same?

Page selection uses WordPress pages, including a static front page. Posts, products,
archives and searches are not pages. Include mode hides widgets on these other views.
Exclude mode leaves these other views available. A designated posts page is a blog
view, not a singular page.

### Does it work with block themes and page builders?

It manages widgets in registered theme widget areas. It does not manage arbitrary
blocks in Site Editor templates, builder elements or dashboard widgets. Block headings
inside block widgets use the title style. Design previews use sample content, not
the real widget. Widgets with custom HTML, inline styles or unusual CSS need theme-
specific verification. Form controls and button layouts retain their existing design.

### Why do widgets still appear in the Customizer?

Visibility remains unchanged in Customizer previews so widgets can be edited. Check
visitor-specific visibility on the actual frontend.

### What about caching?

Full-page caches must separate visitors by login status and role, or bypass caching
for pages with personalized widgets. Clear page caches after changes. The plugin
does not alter your cache configuration. Hiding a widget is not access protection
for underlying content or endpoints.

### Can editors change the settings?

Only users with manage_options can manage these settings. All current site roles,
including roles from other plugins, are available as visitor audiences.

### Can I support development?

Yes. The optional Support via PayPal or card button appears only on this plugin’s
primary administration page.
