WordPress 7.1 introduced a native API for registering icon collections and individual icons. VVertex Icon Manager provides a visual WordPress admin interface for that workflow. Instead of writing custom PHP code, administrators can create their own named icon collections, upload or paste SVG icons, bulk import icons, manage individual icons and collections, and register enabled icons with WordPress. VVertex Icon Manager is focused on native WordPress icon collection management. The plugin does not create a separate proprietary icon system. For example, you can create a collection called: ``` Brand Icons ``` The plugin can register that collection using a namespace such as: ``` vvertex-brand-icons ``` An icon called: ``` shopping-cart ``` can then use a WordPress icon handle such as: ``` vvertex-brand-icons/shopping-cart ``` This allows custom icons and collections to work with the native WordPress icon infrastructure. #### SVG handling VVertex Icon Manager does not globally enable SVG uploads in the WordPress Media Library. SVG files are handled only through the plugin’s administration screens for the purpose of creating icons for the WordPress Icon Registration API. SVG markup is sanitized before storage and checked for compatibility with the SVG structure supported by WordPress. #### SVG compatibility WordPress 7.1 uses a conservative SVG allowlist for registered icons. The native Icon Registration API currently supports a limited SVG structure, including elements such as: * `svg` * `path` * `polygon` Unsupported SVG elements and attributes may be removed during sanitization. For best results, convert stroke-based icons and unsupported SVG shapes to filled paths or polygons before importing them. VVertex Icon Manager provides compatibility information to help identify SVG files that may not work correctly with the native WordPress Icon API. #### Security VVertex Icon Manager follows WordPress security practices for its administration functionality. The plugin uses: * WordPress capability checks. * Nonce verification for protected actions. * Input sanitization. * Output escaping. * SVG sanitization before storage. * WordPress APIs for storing and managing plugin data. Upload the `vvertex-icon-manager` folder to the `/wp-content/plugins/` directory, or install the plugin ZIP from Plugins > Add Plugin > Upload Plugin. 2. Activate VVertex Icon Manager. 3. Open VVertex Icons > Collections. 4. Create your first custom icon collection. 5. Open VVertex Icons > Add Icon. 6. Upload an SVG file or paste SVG markup. 7. Assign the icon to your collection. 8.
