Unlike traditional live chat plugins that require administrators to monitor a separate WordPress dashboard, TLC Chat routes visitor conversations to Telegram, allowing your support team to respond directly from Telegram. The Telegram Bot API is provided by Telegram. The plugin uses this service to: * Verify the configured Telegram bot. * Register and verify the webhook used to receive administrator messages and pairing requests. * Send visitor messages from the website to the configured Telegram administrators. * Receive administrator replies and display them to the corresponding website visitor. When a visitor sends a chat message, the following information may be sent to the Telegram Bot API: * The visitor’s message. * The conversation ID generated by the plugin. * The URL of the page where the message was sent, when available. When an administrator replies through Telegram, Telegram sends the message and the associated Telegram chat information to the plugin’s webhook. The plugin uses this information to identify the administrator and the related conversation. ### Privacy The plugin generates a temporary visitor ID and stores it in the browser’s session storage to associate messages with the current chat conversation. This identifier is not used for analytics, advertising, or tracking. The visitor’s IP address may be temporarily processed by the plugin for rate limiting and abuse prevention. It is not sent to Telegram. The plugin stores conversation and message data in the WordPress database to provide the chat functionality. The plugin also sends the configured Telegram bot token as part of authenticated requests to the Telegram Bot API. The bot token is stored in the WordPress database and is used only to authenticate requests to Telegram. The Telegram Bot API is contacted when the plugin verifies the bot, registers or checks the webhook, sends a visitor message to an administrator, or receives a Telegram webhook update. TLC Chat is designed for teams that already use Telegram for customer support. Instead of requiring administrators to continuously monitor a separate WordPress chat dashboard, TLC Chat sends website conversations directly to Telegram. Administrators can read and reply to visitor messages from Telegram while visitors continue chatting through the website widget. This approach keeps the website chat experience simple for visitors while allowing support teams to manage conversations from a communication platform they already use. ## Installation 1. Upload the `tlc-live-chat-with-telegram` folder to the `/wp-content/plugins/` directory, or install the ZIP file from the WordPress Plugins screen. 2. Activate Telegram Live Chat through the Plugins screen in WordPress. 3. Open **TLC > Settings** and save the token supplied by BotFather. 4. Select **Connect Telegram** to verify the bot and register its webhook. 5. Open **TLC > Administrators**, generate a pairing link, and open it from the Telegram account that will be the owner. 6. Generate another pairing link for each additional administrator. Administrators must reply to a visitor message in Telegram for their response to appear on the website. ## FAQ ### Is a Telegram account required? Yes. A Telegram account is required to connect the plugin with your Telegram bot and manage visitor conversations. ### Does the plugin need a Telegram bot? Yes. Create a bot with BotFather and enter its token in the plugin settings. ### How do I add another administrator? Open **TLC > Administrators**, select **Generate Pairing Link**, and send the link to the administrator. The first paired account remains the owner; later accounts are added as administrators. ### Can I remove an administrator? Yes. On the Administrators screen, select **Remove** next to that administrator.
