## Description

The **Teamwant VIES VAT for WooCommerce** allows you to validate EU VAT numbers 
in real time using the official VIES service. It supports both B2B and B2C models,
providing dynamic VAT behavior based on customer country, VAT validity, shipping
address, and more.

This plugin is fully compatible with the new WooCommerce block-based checkout system,
as well as the classic (legacy) checkout method.

### Configuration

The plugin is enabled with default settings after installation. You must configure
your tax rules appropriately:

 * Set the correct VAT rates under **WooCommerce > Settings > Tax**
 * Choose whether to exempt valid VAT numbers or preserve VAT
 * Optionally exclude countries where VAT should not be changed
 * Configure shipping VAT behavior if needed
 * Enable OSS VAT logic if you sell across multiple EU countries

## Installation

 1. Upload the plugin ZIP file via the WordPress plugin installer.
 2. Activate the plugin.
 3. Navigate to **WooCommerce > EU VIES VAT** to configure plugin settings.

## FAQ

### Does it work with the WooCommerce block-based checkout?

Yes! The plugin supports both the new block-based checkout system and the classic
checkout.

### What happens if the VIES system is down?

You can allow orders to continue even if VIES fails to respond. The plugin provides
fallback behavior to avoid losing sales.

### Can I customize VAT validation rules per country?

Yes, you can set exemptions, enforce prefix presence, or ignore VAT for certain 
countries.

### Is OSS VAT supported?

Yes. The plugin includes a setting for OSS, allowing the automatic use of OSS tax
rates if applicable.
