How It Works

Here’s how the TaxJar for WooCommerce plugin works:

At the cart and checkout page, TaxJar takes the following input from your store:

  • Your store address
  • Your customer’s address
  • Order details such as line items and shipping

And returns accurate sales tax (including state, county, city, and special taxes) based on…

  • Your store address
  • Any nexus locations stored in your TaxJar account
  • Local sales tax sourcing laws (origin-based or destination-based)
  • Shipping taxability laws (shipping is not taxable in every state)
  • Product exemptions if configured for specific products
  • Itemized discounts for coupons
  • Sales tax holidays

Every Month Overcharged

I was overcharged every month due to a “glitch” from $19 to regularly being charged $99-$199. I spend more time having to deal with them correcting the charge than it would take to calculate sales tax on my own

Tax is not showing up in Cart Total

All email-based support. Plan on a problem taking multiple days (pretty much you send an email, takes a business day for them to get back to you, some instructions make no sense, you respond for clarification, takes a business day for them to get back with you, and so on) to solve – for a paid plugin. So frustrated.

Really Good System, but not perfect

Taxjar is a great program. It allows me to auto-file my taxes and saves me money by not having to pay my accountant additional fees. I highly recommend it. However, it’s not without flaws. From time to time, the program disconnects from wordpress without any clear reason, and I have to manually reconnect it or contact support. I’m hoping that this is fixed in the future. Thanks, Taxjar!

Works for us!

Great plugin to manage taxes. Been using it for about a year now and their support has been great!
