This connection is required for the plugin to function. **Address autocomplete and verification (customer checkout and admin order pages)** As a customer types an address, and when an order is submitted, the address fields( street, secondary/unit, city, state, postal code, and country) are sent to Smarty’s lookup and verification endpoints so they can be suggested and validated: * us-autocomplete-pro.api.smarty.com * international-autocomplete.api.smarty.com * us-street.api.smarty.com * international-street.api.smarty.com **Account connection (store administrators only)** When a store administrator connects a Smarty account, the plugin uses OAuth and then retrieves the account’s embedded API keys and subscription status from: * oauth.api.smarty.com * security.api.smarty.com * subscription.api.smarty.com Data is sent only to Smarty. In your WordPress admin, go to **Plugins Add New** and search for “Address autocomplete and validation”. 2. Click **Install Now**, then **Activate**. 3. Go to **WooCommerce Settings Integrations Smarty Address Autocomplete and Validation**. 4. Click **Connect with Smarty** and sign in to your Smarty account to authorize the connection. 5. Back on the settings page, select an embedded key from the dropdown and click ** Save changes**. 6. Optionally, use the **Active Subscriptions** toggles to enable or disable individual Smarty services. 7. Make sure your checkout page is using the WooCommerce block checkout. You don’t need to copy or paste an API key — the plugin loads the embedded keys from your Smarty account for you after you connect. Use **Plugins Add New Upload Plugin** to upload the ZIP, or extract the `smarty-address-autocomplete-for-woocommerce` folder into `/ wp-content/plugins/`. ## FAQ ### Does this work with the classic WooCommerce checkout? No. The plugin is built for the WooCommerce block checkout introduced in WooCommerce 8.3. The classic shortcode-based checkout (`[woocommerce_checkout]`) is not supported. ### How do I connect the plugin to my Smarty account? On the settings page, click **Connect with Smarty** and sign in to authorize the connection. The plugin then loads the embedded keys from your account into a dropdown— just pick one and click **Save changes**. No copying or pasting of keys is required. ### I don’t have any embedded keys to select. That means the connected Smarty account has no embedded keys yet. Log in at [smarty.com](https://smarty.com), create an embedded key under **API Keys**, then click **Change Key** on the settings page to reload the list. Embedded keys are designed for client-side use and can be scoped to your domain, so make sure the key is authorized for your store’s domain. ### What are the Active Subscriptions toggles? After you connect, the plugin detects which Smarty services your account is subscribed to (US and international address verification and autocomplete). Subscribed services are enabled by default; toggle any off if you don’t want to use them. Services you’re not subscribed to are shown but can’t be enabled. ### What happens if my connection expires? If your saved authorization expires or is revoked, the plugin shows a notice with a **Reconnect now** link. Click it, then click **Connect with Smarty** again to restore the connection. ### Does autocomplete work for international addresses? Yes. When a customer selects a non-US country, the plugin automatically switches to the Smarty international autocomplete API. Supported countries are listed in the [Smarty documentation](https://smarty.com). ### Does address verification work internationally? Yes. Verification is supported for countries covered by the Smarty international street address API. For unsupported countries, verification is skipped and checkout proceeds normally. ### Will this slow down my checkout? Autocomplete suggestions are fetched asynchronously with a 200ms debounce, so they don’t block typing. Verification happens only when the customer clicks Place Order and adds less than one second in most cases. ### What happens if the Smarty API is unreachable? Autocomplete silently skips suggestions.
