Visitors can chat with your AI assistant, and conversations can be handed off to human agents in your SkyLight Chat inbox. #### What you need before you start 1. A SkyLight Chat account at [skylightchat.com](https://skylightchat.com) 2. Web Chat enabled for your workspace 3. An API key from the SkyLight Chat dashboard (**Settings API** or **Settings Web Chat**) #### Setup (from a fresh install) 1. Install and activate **SkyLight Chat AI Web Widget** 2. In WordPress, open **Settings SkyLight Chat AI Web Widget** 3. Paste your API key 4. Optionally set widget color, position (left or right), and light or dark theme 5. Turn **Enable widget** on and click **Save** The chat bubble then appears on your site for visitors. Chat messages are handled by SkyLight Chat — they are not stored inside WordPress. #### Features * Enable or disable the widget from WordPress settings * Connect with your SkyLight Chat API key * Choose widget color, position, and theme * Optionally hide the widget for logged-in administrators * Developer filter to control where the widget loads (`skylight_chat_should_load`) #### Privacy This plugin sends visitor chat content and basic page context (page URL, referrer, session identifiers) to your SkyLight Chat account so conversations can be answered. Review SkyLight Chat’s privacy policy for how that data is handled. #### Requirements * An active SkyLight Chat account with Web Chat enabled * A valid API key (`sk_live_…`) ## Installation 1. Upload the `skylight-chat-ai-web-widget` folder to `/wp-content/plugins/`, or install the ZIP via **Plugins Add New Upload Plugin** 2. Activate **SkyLight Chat AI Web Widget** 3. Go to **Settings SkyLight Chat AI Web Widget** 4. Enter your API key, adjust appearance if needed, enable the widget, and save ## FAQ ### Do I need a SkyLight Chat account? Yes. This plugin is a connector. Create an account at [skylightchat.com](https://skylightchat.com), enable Web Chat, and copy your API key from the dashboard. ### Where do I find my API key? In the SkyLight Chat dashboard, open **Settings API** or **Settings Web Chat**, create or copy a key that starts with `sk_live_`, then paste it into this plugin’s settings screen. ### The widget does not appear after saving Confirm the API key is correct, **Enable widget** is on, and you are viewing a public front-end page (not wp-admin). If you enabled “hide for administrators,” try in a private/incognito window while logged out. ### Does the free plan work? Yes, as long as your SkyLight workspace has Web Chat enabled and remaining AI reply quota. ### Will this slow down my site? The widget script loads asynchronously in the footer only when the widget is enabled and an API key is set. ### Can I hide the widget on specific pages? Yes. Developers can use the `skylight_chat_should_load` filter to return `false` on selected pages. ### Is this plugin GPL compatible? Yes. The plugin code is licensed under GPLv2 or later.
