Auto-detected, or choose it yourself. Replies talk about products, courses or services to match your content. * **AI engines** – Google Gemini or Grok (xAI; Groq keys also work), with automatic backup and automatic model choice. Without a key it still answers from your pages with a built-in search engine. * **Answer rules** – your own instructions for the AI, topics it must not answer, and a fees & prices policy: show prices from your website, or never quote prices and share your contact details instead. * **Live chat inbox** – take over any conversation, reply as your team, see who is online. * **Email alerts** – optional emails to the admin when visitors write while you are offline, and to visitors when you reply. * **Lead capture into your own form** – Elementor Pro, Contact Form 7, Gravity Forms or any other form plugin with a shortcode (WPForms, Fluent Forms, Ninja Forms, Formidable, Forminator). Optional webhook for any CRM. * **SEO aware** – noindex / nofollow pages (Yoast, Rank Math, AIOSEO, SEOPress, SEO Framework), landing and thank-you pages are never read or linked. * Cache friendly (LiteSpeed, WP Rocket, etc.), mobile friendly, no cookies. ### External services This plugin can connect to the services below. Nothing is sent to any of them until the site owner turns the feature on in Smart Chat > Settings. **Google Gemini API (Google)** – generates the chat answers when a Gemini API key is saved in Settings > AI Engine and Gemini is the active or backup AI. Sent with every visitor question: the question, the recent messages of that chat, and text from this website’s pages that is relevant to the question (plus the owner’s instructions and support contacts). When “Search the web” is on, Gemini may use Google Search for general questions. The “Test connection” button and automatic model choice also request the list of available models. [Terms of Service](https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms), [Privacy Policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy). **xAI Grok API (xAI)** – generates the chat answers when an xAI key (starting with“ xai-“) is saved under Grok. Sends the same data as above to api.x.ai. [Terms of Service](https://x.ai/legal/terms-of-service), [Privacy Policy](https://x.ai/legal/privacy-policy). **Groq API (Groq, Inc.)** – used instead of xAI when the key saved under Grok starts with “gsk_”. Sends the same data as above to api.groq.com. [Terms of Use](https://groq.com/terms-of-use/), [Privacy Policy](https://groq.com/privacy-policy/). **Google reCAPTCHA (Google)** – only when the connected Elementor or Contact Form 7 form already uses reCAPTCHA. The chat then loads the reCAPTCHA script from www. google.com in the visitor’s browser so the enquiry can be submitted into that form. Google receives the data its reCAPTCHA normally collects. The chat then loads the Turnstile script from challenges. cloudflare.com in the visitor’s browser. When a webhook URL is saved in Leads & CRM, every chat enquiry (name, phone, email, interest, message, page URL, date) is sent as JSON to that URL. You choose the service and its terms apply. ## Installation 1. Plugins > Add New > search “SEO Lands Smart Chat” (or upload the zip) > Install > Activate. 2. Smart Chat > Settings > General: check the Website type. 3. AI Engine: paste a Gemini key (aistudio.google.com/apikey) or a Grok / Groq key, click Test, then Save Changes. 4. Knowledge: click “Re-scan website now”. 5. Live Chat & Alerts: add your admin email and support phone / WhatsApp. ## FAQ ### The assistant told a wrong price. How do I stop that? Smart Chat > Settings > Answer Rules > Price questions > “Never show prices – share contact details”. The assistant then never quotes any fee or price and shares your contact details instead. If you prefer to show prices, write the exact prices in Knowledge > Extra information as Q: / A: lines. ### Does it work on a site without WooCommerce or courses? Yes. On a shop it talks about products and shows product cards, on an education site about courses, and on any other site about your services. Set it under General > Website type, or leave it on Auto-detect. ### Can I stop email alerts? Yes. Live Chat & Alerts > “When I am offline” switch. Enquiry form leads are controlled separately in Leads & CRM. ### Do I need an API key? No, but answers are much better with one.
