Instead of opening every post, product or taxonomy term separately, administrators can search, review and update up to 50 items at a time. #### Supported content * Posts and pages. * WooCommerce products when WooCommerce is active. * Public custom post types with an administration interface. * Public built-in and custom taxonomies with an administration interface. * Images in the WordPress Media Library. #### Editable fields For posts, pages, products and custom post types: * Focus keyphrase. * SEO title. * Meta description. Only published and indexable content is shown by default. Separate tabs make it possible to review published content marked as noindex or all published content. The effective setting respects both the individual Yoast SEO value and the default for its post type. For taxonomy terms: * Term name. * Term description. * Focus keyphrase. * SEO title. * Meta description. For Media Library images: * Image alternative text. #### Visual completeness status Rows are highlighted to make incomplete items easy to identify: * Green means all evaluated fields contain information and the SEO title and meta description are within their recommended lengths. * Yellow means some evaluated fields are missing, or the SEO title exceeds 60 characters, or the meta description exceeds 156 characters. * Red means all evaluated fields are empty. The status changes immediately while fields are edited. Unsaved rows also receive a separate visual marker, and the browser warns before leaving a page with unsaved changes. #### Data and compatibility The plugin edits the original WordPress and Yoast SEO values. It does not create a duplicate SEO database or transfer content to an external service. Yoast SEO is required and must be active. WooCommerce is optional. Products and other public custom post types are detected automatically. Selfish SEO Metadata Workbench is an independent plugin by Selfish. Install and activate Yoast SEO. 2. Upload the Selfish SEO Metadata Workbench ZIP from Plugins > Add New Plugin > Upload Plugin, or install it from the WordPress.org Plugin Directory. 3. Activate Selfish SEO Metadata Workbench. 4. Open Yoast SEO > Selfish SEO Metadata Workbench. If the Yoast menu is unavailable, look under Tools. 5. Choose a content source, search if needed, edit the visible rows and select Save Changes. Before making large changes, test the workflow on a staging website and keep a current database backup. ## FAQ ### Is Yoast SEO required? Yes. The workbench reads and writes SEO values through Yoast SEO. The plugin displays an administrator notice when Yoast SEO is not active. ### Does this work with WooCommerce products? Yes. When WooCommerce is active and the current user can edit products, Products appears automatically in the content selector. ### Does this work with custom post types? Yes. Public custom post types that have an administration interface are detected automatically. No code configuration is required. ### Which taxonomies are included? The current version automatically includes all public taxonomies that have an administration interface and that the current user can manage. This includes the built-in Categories and Tags as well as taxonomies registered by custom post types and plugins. ### Which fields determine a taxonomy term’s color? Term description, focus keyphrase, SEO title and meta description determine the color. The term name is not included because WordPress requires every term to have a name. ### Does changing a taxonomy name also change its slug? No. The workbench updates the term name and leaves the existing slug unchanged. ### What does the image field update? It updates the standard WordPress `_wp_attachment_image_alt` value used by the Media Library and WordPress image functions. An empty value can be appropriate for a decorative image. ### Does the plugin create its own SEO tables? No. Creating a second copy of active SEO metadata could cause synchronization problems. The plugin updates the existing WordPress and Yoast SEO data instead. ### Will other Yoast SEO settings be removed? No. For taxonomy terms, the complete existing Yoast metadata set is preserved and only the fields visible in the workbench are replaced. ### Does the plugin send data to Selfish or another service? No. It does not include analytics, tracking, advertising or external API requests. ### Who can use the workbench? By default, only administrators with the `manage_options` capability can open the screen. WordPress permissions are checked again for every item before it is updated. ### Why is a published item not shown in the Indexables tab? The item may be marked as noindex in Yoast SEO, or its post type may be noindex by default. Review the No index tab to find it.
