## Description

Reycob WebP and SVG Icons provides two independent tools for WordPress sites:

 * Converts new JPG and PNG uploads to WebP when the server supports WebP encoding.
 * Compresses WebP files with a configurable quality level from 50 to 95.
 * Scans existing JPG and PNG media attachments from an administrator-only screen.
 * Converts existing images and their registered thumbnail sizes in small AJAX batches.
 * Keeps previous files as compatibility backups when migrating existing media.
 * Adds a local SVG icon catalog to the Elementor icon selector.
 * Renders compatible legacy icon markup as inline SVG with `currentColor` support.
 * Lets administrators enable or disable image conversion and the Elementor icon
   library independently.

All image processing happens on the site’s own server through the WordPress image
editor or Imagick. The plugin does not use an external optimization service, transmit
media files, add tracking, or load remote code.

When WebP encoding is unavailable or a new upload cannot be converted, the original
JPG or PNG remains unchanged. Existing-library conversion only updates an attachment
after the main file and its registered image sizes have been created successfully.

The Elementor integration is optional. Image conversion and the media scanner continue
to work when Elementor is not installed.

### Privacy

The plugin does not collect personal data, use cookies, track administrators or
visitors, or send information to external services.

Image files are processed locally on the WordPress server. The scanner stores only
plugin settings, a temporary list of attachment IDs that could not be converted,
and migration metadata needed to manage compatibility files.

### Third-Party Resources

The bundled Elementor icon names and SVG path data are adapted from the ElementsKit
Lite icon pack by Wpmet, distributed under the GPLv3 or later license. See `third-
party-notices.txt` for source, copyright, license, and modification details.

## Installation

 1. Upload the plugin folder to `/wp-content/plugins/reycob-webp-e-iconos/`, or install
it through the WordPress Plugins screen.
 2. Activate **Reycob WebP e Iconos**.
 3. Go to **Media > WebP e Iconos**.
 4. Choose the WebP quality and enable the modules you want to use.
 5. Use **Scan media library** before starting an existing-media conversion.

Create a full site and uploads backup before processing a large existing media library.

## FAQ

### What happens if my server cannot create WebP files?

The plugin leaves new JPG and PNG uploads unchanged and shows the WebP engine as
unavailable on its settings screen. The existing-media converter cannot start until
WordPress detects WebP support through GD or Imagick.

### Are original files deleted?

After a new upload is successfully converted and validated, its temporary JPG or
PNG source is replaced by the WebP file before the attachment enters the Media Library.

When existing Media Library attachments are migrated, previous JPG and PNG files
are kept at their original URLs as compatibility backups. WordPress attachment metadata
is updated to use the new WebP files.

### Does uninstalling restore converted images?

No. Uninstalling removes the plugin settings and temporary failure list, but it
does not rewrite attachment metadata, restore image formats, or delete media files.
This avoids destructive changes during plugin removal.

### Does the plugin send images to an external service?

No. Image encoding is performed locally by the WordPress image editor or Imagick
available on the hosting server.

### Is Elementor required?

No. Elementor is only required to use the optional SVG icon catalog. The WebP features
work independently.

### Why are some old JPG or PNG files still on the server after a scan?

The scanner preserves the previous files as compatibility backups so older direct
URLs do not break. They are removed when the corresponding migrated attachment is
permanently deleted while the plugin is active.
