Replikit also duplicates media: when you duplicate an image or file in the Media Library, Replikit copies the actual file on disk to a new, uniquely-named file and creates a completely independent attachment record for it — including regenerated thumbnail sizes. The two attachments do not share a file, so editing or deleting one never affects the other. #### Features * Duplicate any public post type — posts, pages, and custom post types — with one click from the row actions or in bulk * Duplicate Media Library files, copying the actual file on disk (available from the Media Library’s List view) * Turn duplication on or off individually for each post type, and for the Media Library, from one management screen * Choose exactly what gets copied: custom fields (including ACF and other meta- based field data), taxonomy terms, featured image, and existing comments * Duplicates are created as Drafts by default, so nothing goes live by accident— configurable in settings * Comment duplication preserves reply threading * No custom database table — built entirely on core WordPress APIs * No external services, no license keys, no feature restrictions #### How it works 1. Go to **Settings Replikit** to choose which post types (and whether Media Library files) can be duplicated, and what gets copied along with each duplicate 2. Go to any enabled Posts, Pages, or custom post type list, or the Media Library ( List view) 3. Click **Duplicate** under any item, or select several and choose **Duplicate** from the Bulk Actions dropdown ## Installation 1. Upload the plugin files to the `/wp-content/plugins/replikit` directory, or install the plugin through the WordPress plugins screen directly. 2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ screen in WordPress. 3. Visit **Settings Replikit** to review what gets copied by default. 4. Go to any content list or the Media Library to start duplicating. ## FAQ ### Does duplicating a post also duplicate its featured image file? No, not by default. The duplicate uses the same featured image reference as the original (both posts point to the same media attachment), which is the expected behavior for most use cases. If you want an independent copy of the image file itself, duplicate that image directly from the Media Library. ### Why are duplicates created as Drafts? To prevent a duplicated page or post from accidentally appearing live with identical content to the original. You can change this in **Settings Replikit** if you’d prefer duplicates to match the original’s status. ### Does this work with Advanced Custom Fields (ACF)? Yes. ACF stores its field data as regular post meta, and Replikit’s “Copy all post meta” setting (on by default) copies it along with everything else. ### Does this work with Elementor, Beaver Builder, Divi, or other page builders? Yes. Elementor, Beaver Builder, Bricks, and Oxygen all store the entire page layout as post meta, which Replikit copies as part of “Copy all post meta” (on by default)— this must stay enabled for duplicated page-builder content to appear correctly. Divi and WPBakery store their layout directly in the post content using shortcodes, which Replikit always copies regardless of that setting. Elementor may briefly regenerate its cached CSS the first time you open the duplicate— this is expected (Replikit intentionally does not copy Elementor’s per-post CSS cache, since it is tied to the original post’s ID) and is not a sign anything went wrong. ### Will duplicating media work on any host? Media duplication requires the WordPress Filesystem API to have direct write access to your uploads directory, which is the case on the large majority of hosts. If your host requires FTP credentials for file operations, media duplication may not be available; post and page duplication are unaffected either way. ### Is there a premium version? No. Everything described here is included, with no restrictions or upsells. ### Can I disable duplication for specific post types? Yes. Go to **Settings Replikit** and uncheck any post type (or the Media Library) you don’t want the Duplicate action to appear for.
