Refer a Friend for Paid Memberships Pro

Description

Refer a Friend for Paid Memberships Pro adds a member-to-member referral workflow to sites using Paid Memberships Pro (PMPro).

Paid Memberships Pro 3.0 or newer must be installed and activated separately. This plugin is independently developed and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an official product of Paid Memberships Pro.

Features include:

  • Permanent random referral links for registered users.
  • Last-valid-link attribution for newly created WordPress accounts only.
  • A secure email confirmation and POST-based claim step.
  • Separately configurable PMPro membership levels and reward days for the friend and referrer.
  • Stackable temporary membership access without collecting payment details.
  • Renewal postponement for supported active PMPro-managed Stripe subscriptions.
  • Referrer-controlled reminders, limited to one per friend every seven days.
  • Referral dashboard, component and optional username leaderboard shortcodes.
  • An administrator status table, CSV export and diagnostics.
  • WordPress personal-data export integration and suggested privacy-policy text.
  • No IP-address storage and no external tracking.

Shortcodes

  • [rafpmpro_dashboard] — combined member referral dashboard.
  • [rafpmpro_referral_link] — the current user’s referral link and sharing actions.
  • [rafpmpro_referrals] — the current user’s referrals and available reminders.
  • [rafpmpro_stats] — completed, pending and reward-day totals.
  • [rafpmpro_leaderboard limit="20"] — usernames with one or more completed referrals.
  • [rafpmpro_confirmation] — confirmation and claim screen; place this on the configured confirmation page.

Pages containing member-specific shortcodes should be excluded from full-page caching.

Privacy

The plugin stores user IDs, a random referral code, referral and reward status, configured reward details, timestamps, reminder counts and short failure messages. It does not store IP addresses. Site owners should set a retention policy appropriate to their circumstances.

FAQ

Does a referred friend need to enter payment details?

No. The configured PMPro level is assigned as temporary complimentary access.

Can existing users be referred?

No. A pending referral is created only during creation of a genuinely new WordPress user account.

How are paying referrers rewarded?

For an active PMPro-managed Stripe subscription, the plugin asks Stripe to postpone the next payment using Stripe’s supported trial-end mechanism, disables proration, and then asks PMPro to synchronise the confirmed next-payment date. Unsupported or failed operations remain visible for diagnosis.

Does it work with PMPro Affiliates?

The plugin uses its own URL parameter, cookie, tables, options and PHP prefix, so it does not overwrite PMPro Affiliates attribution.

Does the leaderboard publish email addresses?

No. It displays WordPress usernames and only includes users with at least one completed referral.
