## Description

When somebody asks ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity or Copilot about your business, the
answer is built out of pages those services have already read. They do not read
your site the way a visitor does: each of them arrives with its own crawler — GPTBot
and OAI-SearchBot for OpenAI, ClaudeBot for Anthropic, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended,
Applebot-Extended and dozens more — takes whatever it finds, and summarises it later,
without you in the room.

Promium AI GEO adds a second editor to your posts and pages. Whatever you write
in it is delivered to the AI crawlers you allow, either in place of the post content
or in front of it. Human visitors always get the original page, untouched.

That matters whenever the page a person reads is not the clearest possible answer
for a machine: a product page built around images, a landing page written to convert
rather than to explain, an article whose key facts sit halfway down. You write the
plain, factual version once, and the crawlers you choose read that instead.

#### Where this comes from: two different ways of indexing

The work this plugin does grew out of a close study of how information is “indexed”
by a human being and how it is indexed by an AI. They are two different processes,
and they call for two different arrangements of the same site.

A site built for people works by subtraction: short passages, visual hierarchy,
images doing the work of words, a path laid out to carry the reader towards an action.
Human attention is a scarce resource, and the whole discipline of web design exists
to manage it.

An AI is under no such constraint. Its context window is vastly larger than any
person’s reading capacity: it can take in, in a single pass, long documents, complete
technical sheets, lists of conditions, edge cases, definitions, fine-grained data.
What would be a wall of text to a human reader is, to an AI crawler, simply information
that is available — and the more explicit, declarative and unambiguous that information
is, the more likely the generated answer is to be right.

Hence the plugin’s design: alongside the site written for humans sits a version
of that same site meant for machines, expanded with content that can run long, letting
AI crawlers find exactly the information the user asked for, in the form models
absorb most reliably. Not a different site — the same site, said in another language:
the language of machine indexing.

#### What the plugin does

 * Adds a **Promium AI GEO** panel to the post types you select — posts, pages or
   any custom post type.
 * Recognises **65 crawlers** out of the box, identified by the user agent they
send and grouped by what they are used for: answer engines, model training, search
engines, training control tokens, public datasets, web archives and link previews.
 * Lets each post choose between _replace the content_ and _add before the content_.
 * Lets each post pick individual crawlers, or accept every bot including ones not
   yet on the list.
 * Adds an optional global intro and outro, so shared boilerplate — a company description,
a contact block — is written once and reused everywhere.
 * Includes an optional debug log that records what was detected and what was served,
   stored in your own database.

#### Generative Engine Optimization, in plain terms

Traditional SEO is about being found in a list of links. Generative Engine Optimization,
or GEO, is about being described correctly in an answer. Nobody clicks through to
check: whatever the model understood about you is what the person hears.

Models work best with plain, declarative, factual writing — what you do, where,
for whom, on what terms. Marketing copy written to persuade a human reader often
survives that trip badly, and the result is a summary that is vague, dated, or simply
wrong. This plugin gives you somewhere to put the version written for the machine,
without touching the page your customers see.

#### Who makes it

PROMIUM has worked for many years across WordPress, artificial intelligence and
cyber security, and is one of a small number of Italian companies with an established
reputation for tailor-made AI solutions built to a client’s specification. Generative
Engine Optimization — making sure generative engines describe a business accurately—
is one of the areas the company actively develops. This plugin is the part of that
work released to the WordPress community.

#### Please read this before you use it

Serving different content to crawlers and to people is what search engines call **
cloaking**, and it can cost you rankings if the two versions say different things.

Use this plugin to state the _same facts more clearly_ for a machine reader — not
to show crawlers something your visitors cannot see. Keep the crawler version truthful
and equivalent in meaning to the page a person gets. You are responsible for what
you publish through it.

#### No external services

This plugin does not contact any external server. It makes no HTTP requests, registers
no remote API, sends no analytics and requires no account or key. Crawler detection
happens entirely on your own server, by reading the user agent of the incoming request
against a list bundled with the plugin.

#### LITE and PRO editions

The plugin you are reading about is complete and free, and it stays that way: everything
described above works without a key, an account or a subscription.

For teams running larger sites, two paid editions are available from [promiumai.com](https://promiumai.com):

**LITE** adds scale and measurement to the same idea:

 * A bulk screen listing every post and page on the site, so crawler-facing content
can be written and reviewed from one place instead of opening posts one at a
   time.
 * Dedicated screens for **Yoast SEO** and **All in One SEO**, so the metadata those
plugins manage for traditional search engines can be reviewed and edited alongside
   your AI content.
 * A statistics dashboard showing which AI crawlers visited, how often, and which
   pages they asked for.

**PRO** adds AI writing on top, powered by included credits:

 * Autopilot: point it at a post and the crawler-facing version is drafted for you,
   following your global instructions.
 * Bulk generation across many posts at once, rather than page by page.
 * SEO titles and meta descriptions generated and written straight into Yoast SEO
or All in One SEO, so the same pass that improves how AI describes you also feeds
   the traditional search engines.

Businesses that trialled the PRO edition have reported a noticeable shift in how
AI assistants describe them: instead of the purely commercial summary a brochure
site usually attracts, the assistants began citing technical and descriptive detail
as well, phrased in the register the models absorb most reliably. What any given
site sees depends on its own content, and results are not guaranteed.

Both editions are sold and supported at [promiumai.com](https://promiumai.com).

## Installation

 1. Upload the `promium-ai-geo` folder to `/wp-content/plugins/`, or install the plugin
through the Plugins screen in WordPress.
 2. Activate the plugin through the Plugins screen.
 3. Go to **Promium AI GEO Settings** and choose the post types the editor panel should
    appear on.
 4. Edit any post, scroll to the **Promium AI GEO** panel, write the crawler version
and pick the crawlers allowed to read it.

## FAQ

### Does anything change for my normal visitors?

No. The alternative content is used only when the incoming request carries the user
agent of a crawler you allowed on that post. Every other request gets the post exactly
as it is.

### What exactly is Generative Engine Optimization?

It is the practice of writing your content so that AI answer engines describe you
accurately when someone asks about you. Traditional SEO competes for a position
in a list of links; GEO competes for the wording of an answer that the person will
probably never fact-check.

### Why write a separate version for crawlers at all?

Because a human reader and a model index information differently. A page for people
is kept short and visual to protect a scarce resource, attention. A model has a
context window far larger than any person’s reading capacity, so long documents,
technical sheets, conditions and edge cases are not a burden to it — they are what
makes an accurate answer possible. The second editor is where that longer, plainer
version of the same facts goes.

### Will this improve my Google ranking?

Not directly, and the plugin does not claim to. It changes what AI crawlers read,
which is a different job from the title tags and meta descriptions that classic
search engines weigh. If you want both handled together, the LITE and PRO editions
work alongside Yoast SEO and All in One SEO, and PRO can generate that traditional
metadata as well.

### Does the plugin send my content anywhere?

No. Nothing leaves your server. There are no outgoing HTTP requests of any kind,
no API keys, no accounts and no telemetry.

### Do I need an account or a licence key?

Not for this plugin. It is entirely self-contained. The LITE and PRO editions sold
at promiumai.com use a licence key, but they are separate downloads and nothing
here depends on them.

### Which crawlers are recognised?

Sixty-five, including GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, ChatGPT Agent, ClaudeBot,
Claude-User, Claude-SearchBot, anthropic-ai, PerplexityBot, Perplexity-User, Google-
Extended, Googlebot, GoogleOther, Google-CloudVertexBot, Bingbot, Applebot, Applebot-
Extended, Amazonbot, Amzn-User, Meta-ExternalAgent, Meta-ExternalFetcher, MistralAI-
User, MistralAI-Training, MistralAI-Index, Cohere, Bytespider, TikTokSpider, DoubaoBot,
DeepSeekBot, QwenBot, TongyiBot, ERNIEBot, YiyanBot, PanguBot, PetalBot, KimiBot,
Kimi-User, Kimi-SearchBot, CCBot, HuggingFace, Omgili, YouBot, Andibot, PhindBot,
Exa, Kagi-Fetcher, DuckAssistBot and the Internet Archive. The full list, with a
documentation link for each one, is on the plugin dashboard.

### What does “Every crawler” mean on a post?

It means the bundled crawlers, plus any request whose user agent contains `bot`,`
crawler`, `spider` or `scraper` as a separate word — `some-bot/1.0` matches, a name
like `MyCrawler` does not, because the word is not standalone. Untick it to pick
crawlers one by one.

### Should I replace the content or add before it?

_Add before_ is the safer default: the crawler reads your summary first and still
sees the original article underneath. _Replace_ suits pages whose visible content
carries little meaning on its own, such as a gallery or a heavily visual landing
page.

### My changes are not showing up.

Almost always a cache. Page caches, object caches and CDNs happily serve a stored
copy of a page to a crawler. Purge every cache layer after editing, and re-submit
your XML sitemap so crawlers come back sooner.

### Can I stop a crawler from reading the page at all?

Not with this plugin — that is what `robots.txt` is for. This plugin only changes
_what_ a crawler reads once it is already fetching the page.

### What is stored in my database?

Two options for your settings, four post meta keys per post, and the debug log if
you switch it on. Deleting the plugin from the Plugins screen removes all of it.

### Does the debug log record visitors?

It records the crawler name, the user agent string and which post was served, and
only while you have debug mode switched on. It stays in your own database and is
deleted along with the plugin. IP addresses are never recorded.

### What is the difference between this plugin and the LITE and PRO editions?

This plugin covers the whole workflow for one post at a time, written by you, with
no limits on how many posts you use it on. LITE adds bulk screens, Yoast SEO and
All in One SEO integration and crawler statistics. PRO adds AI generation with included
credits, including bulk drafting and SEO metadata written into Yoast or All in One
SEO. Both are available at promiumai.com.

### Does it work with Yoast SEO or All in One SEO?

They coexist without conflict — this plugin never touches their metadata. The dedicated
screens that let you manage both from one place are part of the LITE and PRO editions.

Ho collaborato per il testing del plugin. E' veramente semplice ed efficace per
farsi vedere dalle IA come ChatGPT, Claude o Gemini. Questo strumento semplifica
la strutturazione dei contenuti e dei dati per i crawler delle intelligenze artificiali,
garantendo la visibilità del brand nelle risposte generate dalle IA. Consigliatissimo
