## Description

PR Gun Newsroom adds a simple newsroom to your site. It lists the press releases
your company published with [PR Gun](https://prgun.com), newest first, with the 
headline, date, a short excerpt and the image. Each item links to the full release.

 * A “PR Gun Newsroom” block for the block editor.
 * A shortcode for classic themes and page builders: `[prgun_newsroom]` or `[prgun_newsroom
   limit="5"]`.
 * Settings for the number of releases, images, excerpts and opening links in a 
   new tab.
 * The list is cached on your site, so pages stay fast and keep working if PR Gun
   is briefly unreachable.
 * No tracking, no cookies, no extra fonts or scripts on your pages.

New releases appear automatically after you publish them with PR Gun (within about
six hours, or right away with “Refresh now”).

### External services

This plugin connects to the PR Gun API to get the list of press releases your company
published with PR Gun.

 * Service: PR Gun API, https://prgun.com/api/newsroom
 * When: when a page with the block or shortcode is displayed and the six-hour cache
   is empty, once a day through WP-Cron, when you click “Refresh now”, and when 
   the block is previewed in the editor.
 * Data sent: the company website set in the plugin settings and a number of releases,
   plus standard request details (your server’s IP address and a user agent that
   includes your site address). No visitor data is sent by the plugin.
 * Images in the list are loaded by your visitors’ browsers directly from prgun.
   com, so prgun.com receives those visitors’ IP addresses, as with any externally
   hosted image. Turn off “Show images” to avoid this.

## Installation

 1. Install and activate the plugin.
 2. Go to Settings > PR Gun Newsroom and check the Company website. It must match the
    website on your PR Gun press releases (for example example.com).
 3. Add the “PR Gun Newsroom” block to a page, or paste `[prgun_newsroom]` into any
    page or post.

## FAQ

### Nothing shows up. Why?

The plugin looks up releases by your company website. Make sure the Company website
setting matches the website on your PR Gun releases, then click “Refresh now”. Visitors
see nothing until at least one release is found; editors see a short notice instead.

### Do I need a PR Gun account?

You need press releases published with PR Gun. The plugin itself needs no API key
or login.

### Does it slow down my site?

No. The list is fetched at most every six hours and stored on your site. If PR Gun
cannot be reached, your last saved list is shown.
