## Description

OrbitalWP – Task Manager helps site owners keep everyday work inside WordPress.
Create
unlimited tasks with a title, description, Open/Completed status, and dates.

Drag tasks between the fixed Open and Completed Board lanes, use a completion
 button
or List checkbox, and find work with search, status, and overdue filters. Active
work appears before completed history. The views show 20 matching tasks per page,
with a consistent default order and no saved sorting preferences.

Use the read-only Timeline to review dates. A due date by itself appears as a
 single-
day task. Task dates and status also appear in a readable list alongside the chart.
Edit dates and descriptions from the task edit screen.

The free plugin stores tasks only in the current WordPress site. It does not load

the paid Orbital Pro plugin or send task content to OrbitalWP. A bundled Explore
screen describes optional team workflows and contains clearly labeled full-version
YouTube demonstrations. Help & Tutorials focuses on local getting-started instructions
and practical examples, with one optional link to Explore Orbital Pro. Videos load
only when you follow a link.

The free plugin includes no configurable lanes, manual card ordering, saved views,

assignment, custom fields, approval workflows, recurring tasks, or paid Orbital
runtime. It is designed for site administrators managing their own work.

### External services

The free plugin includes administrator-initiated links to OrbitalWP and optional

YouTube links configured in the plugin’s bundled CTA configuration. Simply opening
an OrbitalWP admin screen does not contact either service. The free plugin does
not append the site URL, task content, administrator data, analytics identifiers,
or referral-tracking parameters to these links.

When an administrator deliberately follows an OrbitalWP website or pricing
 link,
the browser connects to https://orbitalwp.com/. That site may receive normal web-
request data such as the visitor’s IP address, browser details, and referring page.
See the OrbitalWP privacy policy at https://orbitalwp.com/privacy-policy/.

The “Email a sales question” link opens the administrator’s configured email
 application
with sales@orbitalwp.com as the recipient. The free plugin does not prefill or send
a message. The administrator chooses what to write and whether to send it; their
email provider and the recipient’s provider then process the message under their
own policies.

When an administrator deliberately follows a configured YouTube link, the
 browser
connects to YouTube/Google. YouTube may receive normal web-request and device data,
including the IP address, browser details, referring page, and cookies under its
own policies. The free plugin does not embed a YouTube player or contact YouTube
when its admin pages load; the connection occurs only after the administrator follows
the link. See YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/, the YouTube Terms of Service
at https://www.youtube.com/t/terms, and the Google Privacy Policy at https://policies.

## Installation

 1. Upload the `orbitalwp-task-manager` folder to `/wp-content/plugins/`.
 2. Deactivate Orbital Pro if it is active.
 3. Activate OrbitalWP – Task Manager from the Plugins screen.
 4. Open OrbitalWP in the WordPress admin menu.

## FAQ

### Can OrbitalWP – Task Manager and Orbital Pro run together?

No. Both plugins own the same compatible task content type. The free OrbitalWP

plugin stops its runtime when Orbital Pro is active.

### Who can access tasks in the free plugin?

Site administrators with the `manage_options` capability share access to the
 same
site-local tasks. The free plugin does not include per-task permissions.

### Can the free plugin adopt tasks from an Orbital Pro installation?

No. The free plugin refuses activation when existing task content is not
 marked
as free-plugin-owned. This prevents overwriting Pro task fields or formatted descriptions
whose storage contract is different.

### Can OrbitalWP – Task Manager be network activated?

Not currently. On multisite, activate the free plugin separately on each site so
its
existing task data can be checked safely.

### Can I upgrade to Orbital Pro?

This alpha does not yet automatically transfer free-plugin completion and dates

into Orbital Pro. Back up your site and contact OrbitalWP support for guidance before
switching. Do not assume switching plugins transfers all task fields.

### Can I use the Board without dragging?

Yes. Every task has a completion button, and List view provides checkboxes.
 Open
the task edit screen to update other details or when JavaScript is disabled.

### Can I choose my own lanes or card order?

The free plugin uses two fixed lanes and a consistent default task order. Custom
workflow
lanes, manual ordering, and saved preferences belong to Orbital Pro.

### Where can I get help with the free plugin?

Open OrbitalWP > Help & Tutorials for local getting-started instructions and
 practical
Board, List, and Timeline guidance. No account is needed for these guides. For free
support, use the Support tab on this plugin’s WordPress.org page. The OrbitalWP
website documents Orbital Pro; its private support form requires an account sign-
in.

### What happens when I deactivate or delete OrbitalWP – Task Manager?

Your tasks, descriptions, completion status, and dates remain in the WordPress

database. Reinstalling and activating the free plugin restores access. Deleting
the plugin does not erase your task data; back up your site before switching editions
or performing your own data cleanup.

### How do I switch from an earlier orbital-lite alpha?

Version 0.4.4 uses the `orbitalwp-task-manager` folder and translation domain.

WordPress treats it as a separate installation, not an automatic update of the old`
orbital-lite` folder. Back up your site, deactivate the old free plugin, then delete
that old plugin through WordPress before installing and activating this package.
Do not activate both copies together. The old free plugin’s deletion process retains
its tasks, descriptions, completion status, and dates; this version reads the same
stored data without a migration.

The internal `orbital-lite.php` filename, task identifiers, and existing admin

and REST URLs remain unchanged. This folder change does not affect Orbital Pro.
