## Description

Convert your WordPress blog posts into a Shopify-ready CSV file for free.

Miglog – Blog Migration for Shopify helps WordPress administrators scan, configure,
and export blog posts and metadata for migration to Shopify. It automatically formats
supported content, including line breaks, paragraphs, and shortcodes, to prepare
posts for Shopify. CSV generation and download inside WordPress are completely free.

This plugin creates the CSV file but does not import posts directly into Shopify.
To complete the migration, you need a compatible Shopify import app. The generated
CSV is designed for Blog Importer, a separate Shopify app with a free allowance
and paid plans for additional imports.

Blog Importer also offers image migration and SEO redirect features. Redirecting
existing WordPress URLs to their corresponding Shopify URLs can help maintain access
to your posts and preserve search engine visibility during migration. Search rankings
cannot be guaranteed.

Key features:

 * **Scan & Health Check**: Analyze blog post count, categories, tags, featured
   images, and shortcodes.
 * **Migration Settings**: Select post scope (published only or all statuses) and
   choose which metadata to include.
 * **Automatic Content Formatting**: Automatically format line breaks, normalize
paragraph structure, and process supported WordPress shortcodes to prepare content
for Shopify. Some content may still require manual review.
 * **Custom Field Mapping**: Map WordPress custom fields to Shopify metafields with
automatic type inference and custom namespace support.
 * **Browser-based CSV Generation**: Generate and download the CSV in your browser
without sending article bodies to external servers as part of this plugin’s export
   process.

#### Custom Field Migration

Custom field migration is intended for advanced users familiar with WordPress custom
fields and Shopify metafields.

Before importing custom field data into Shopify, create the corresponding metafield
definitions in your Shopify store. Make sure the namespaces, keys, and data types
match the exported CSV. This WordPress plugin does not create metafield definitions
in Shopify.

### Privacy

WordPress content is processed in the browser during CSV generation and is not automatically
uploaded to Blog Importer or Shopify by this plugin. The plugin provides a CSV download
and an optional link to the separate Shopify app. Uploading the CSV to another service
is a separate action initiated by the user and is subject to that service’s terms
and privacy policy.

### External Services

This plugin creates and downloads a Shopify-ready CSV inside WordPress for free.
It does not require a connection to Blog Importer to generate the CSV.

To import the generated CSV into Shopify, you can use Blog Importer, a separate
Shopify app. Blog Importer includes a free allowance and paid plans for additional
imports. It also provides additional migration features, including image migration
and SEO redirects from existing WordPress URLs to corresponding Shopify URLs. Feature
availability may depend on the app’s current plans and settings.

These import, image migration, and redirect features are provided by the separate
Shopify app and are not performed by this WordPress plugin. Properly configured
redirects can help users and search engines reach the new URLs, but search engine
rankings cannot be guaranteed.

After CSV generation, this plugin provides an optional link to Blog Importer on
the Shopify App Store. This link is navigational only: the WordPress plugin does
not automatically transmit blog content, personal data, or credentials to Shopify
or Blog Importer.

 * Blog Importer (Shopify App Store): https://apps.shopify.com/blog-importer
 * Official Website: https://blog-importer.com
 * Privacy Policy: https://blog-importer.com/policies/privacy-policy

Any subsequent import into Shopify is performed separately through the selected
Shopify import app and is subject to that app’s terms and privacy policy.

### Source Code & Build Instructions

The human-readable source code for the Vue 3 admin interface and shared core logic
is included in the `source/` directory of this plugin package:

 * `source/admin-ui/`: Vue 3 TypeScript application source and Vite configuration.
 * `source/wp-to-shopify-core/`: Shared CSV transformation and HTML processing logic.

To build the production assets from source:

 1. Navigate to the `source/` directory: `cd source`
 2. Install dependencies: `yarn install`
 3. Build the admin bundle: `yarn build`

The built assets are output to `assets/dist/admin.js` and `assets/dist/admin.css`.

## Installation

 1. Upload the `miglog-blog-migration-for-shopify` folder to the `/wp-content/plugins/`
directory, or upload the release ZIP file via **Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin**
    in your WordPress dashboard.
 2. Activate the plugin through the **Plugins** menu in WordPress.
 3. Navigate to **Miglog** in the WordPress Admin sidebar.
 4. Review the scan results, choose your migration settings, and generate and download
    the CSV.
 5. Use a compatible Shopify import app, such as Blog Importer, to import the CSV into
Shopify. Import features and fees are determined by that separate app.

## FAQ

### Is CSV generation free?

Yes. Scanning your WordPress content and generating and downloading the CSV with
this plugin are free. Importing the CSV into Shopify is a separate process and may
be subject to the selected import app’s free allowance or paid plans.

### Do I need a Shopify app to complete the migration?

Yes. This plugin generates and downloads a CSV file but does not import posts directly
into Shopify. You need a compatible Shopify import app. The CSV is designed for
Blog Importer, which offers a free allowance and paid plans for additional imports.

### Does this plugin automatically format line breaks and shortcodes for Shopify?

Yes. During export, it formats line breaks and paragraph structure and processes
supported WordPress shortcodes to prepare post content for Shopify. The result depends
on the source content and the shortcode; review the exported content for any elements
that may need manual adjustment.

### Does this plugin transfer images to Shopify?

No. This plugin does not upload image files to Shopify. Image URLs are included
in the exported CSV where supported. The separate Blog Importer app provides image
migration features, including uploading supported images and replacing image URLs
in article content. Availability and usage may depend on the app’s current plans
and settings.

### Can I preserve my SEO when migrating from WordPress to Shopify?

The separate Blog Importer app provides SEO redirect features for directing existing
WordPress URLs to corresponding Shopify URLs. Correctly configured redirects can
help visitors and search engines find the migrated posts and may help preserve search
engine visibility. This WordPress plugin does not create or manage redirects, and
search engine rankings cannot be guaranteed after migration.

### Can I export draft and unpublished posts?

Yes. In the migration settings, you can choose to export published posts only or
include posts with other statuses. Review your selection before generating the CSV.

### Do I need to prepare Shopify metafields before importing custom fields?

Yes. Custom field migration is intended for advanced users. Create the corresponding
metafield definitions in Shopify before importing, and verify that their namespaces,
keys, and data types match the exported CSV. This WordPress plugin does not automatically
create Shopify metafield definitions.

### Who can access the migration tool?

Only administrators with the `manage_options` capability can access the WordPress
Admin tool and its REST API endpoints.

### Does this plugin modify my WordPress database?

The plugin does not alter your existing posts, terms, attachments, or metadata.
To keep paginated retrieval consistent, it temporarily stores the selected post
IDs and retrieval settings in a WordPress transient with a 30-minute expiry. Article
content is not stored in this transient.
