## Description

MessengerHub adds a chat bubble to your website. Visitors click it and start a conversation
with you on WhatsApp or Telegram – on their phone with one tap, on a computer by
scanning a QR code.

**Features**

 * Chat bubble for WhatsApp, Telegram or both (visitors choose the messenger)
 * QR code on computers, direct “Open chat” button on phones
 * Pre-filled WhatsApp message
 * Telegram: tells your bot which page the visitor came from (e.g. `/start wp_prices`)
 * Title, description, colors, position, own image or MessengerHub logo
 * Contrast warning when text and background are hard to read
 * Show on all pages, only on selected pages, or on all except selected pages
 * Show on computers and/or phones, optional delay
 * Fixed chat buttons for your contact page: block “MessengerHub Chat Button” or
   shortcode `[messengerhub_chat]`
 * Accessible: keyboard operation, Escape closes, screen reader labels
 * Suggested text for your privacy policy

**Privacy by design**

 * No cookies, no tracking, no analytics.
 * The plugin loads no fonts, icons or scripts from other servers. The QR code is
   generated in the visitor’s browser.
 * Visitors’ browsers never contact MessengerHub. WhatsApp or Telegram are only
contacted when a visitor clicks the button or scans the QR code.

**Optional: connection to MessengerHub**

[MessengerHub](https://messengerhub.de) is a team inbox for WhatsApp and Telegram.
If you use it, tick “Connect with MessengerHub” and enter your Widget ID. Your number,
bot, opening hours and absences are then taken from your MessengerHub account automatically–
for example, the bubble shows “We reply tomorrow from 9:00” outside your opening
hours. The plugin works fully without a MessengerHub account.

### External services

This plugin can connect to **MessengerHub** (https://messengerhub.de), but only
if you tick “Connect with MessengerHub” and enter a Widget ID. Without this, the
plugin contacts no external service.

 * **What it is used for:** loading the WhatsApp number, Telegram bot username,
opening hours and absence dates that you configured in your MessengerHub account.
 * **When:** when you save the settings, when you click “Update now”, and automatically
   twice a day via WP-Cron.
 * **What is sent:** a request from your web server to `https://api.messengerhub.
de/widget/<your Widget ID>`. Besides the Widget ID, only the plugin version is
sent (as user agent). No data about your visitors and not the address of your
   website is sent.
 * MessengerHub terms of service: https://messengerhub.de/agb
 * MessengerHub privacy policy: https://messengerhub.de/datenschutz

When a visitor clicks the chat button or scans the QR code, the visitor’s device
opens WhatsApp (https://wa.me, operated by Meta – https://www.whatsapp.com/legal/
privacy-policy) or Telegram (https://t.me – https://telegram.org/privacy). The plugin
itself does not contact these services.

## Blocks

This plugin provides 1 block.

 * MessengerHub Chat Button Buttons that start a WhatsApp or Telegram chat, e.
   g. for your contact page.

## Installation

 1. Install the plugin via Plugins Add New, or upload the ZIP file.
 2. Activate it.
 3. Go to Settings MessengerHub Chat.
 4. Enable WhatsApp and/or Telegram and enter your phone number (with country code)
or your Telegram bot username. Save.

The chat bubble appears on your website as soon as at least one messenger is set
up.

## FAQ

### Can I use a Telegram channel?

No. Visitors cannot write to a Telegram channel. Use the username of a Telegram
bot.

### Does the plugin set cookies or need cookie consent?

The plugin sets no cookies and transmits no data when a page is loaded. Whether
you need consent for the forwarding to WhatsApp or Telegram depends on your website–
the settings page contains a suggested text for your privacy policy. This is not
legal advice.

### Why is no QR code shown on my phone?

On phones you cannot scan your own screen, so the bubble shows the “Open chat” button
directly.

### Where do I find the MessengerHub Widget ID?

In MessengerHub under Settings Website widget.

### The bubble disappeared after connecting to MessengerHub. Why?

The bubble is hidden if MessengerHub does not know the Widget ID, if the MessengerHub
subscription is not active, or if no data could be loaded yet. The settings page
and your dashboard show the reason.
