Store managers review each request and approve, deny or cancel it. **Approval workflow** * A review screen under Tax Exempt & Retail Requests lists every request with its customer, type, document and status (pending, approved, denied, cancelled). * Approve, deny or cancel a request in one click. Filter by status or type. The menu shows how many requests are pending. * Status can also be set on the user profile. **My Account** * Customers can request tax exemption or retail status from a new My Account tab, without placing an order, and follow the status of each request. **Tax exempt customers** * Approved customers see no tax on eligible products in the shop, cart, checkout or new orders. Eligible means all products, products ticked on the product edit page, or products in chosen categories. * They no longer see the exemption form or need to upload a document again. * Customers who are not approved, and guests, are still charged tax. **Tax refunds for earlier orders** * Orders placed while a request was pending are charged tax. After approval, refund that tax in one click from the order screen, either as a record only or through the payment gateway. **Retail customers and retail price** * Set a Retail price on simple, external, virtual and downloadable products, and on each variation of a variable product. * Grouped products have no price of their own, so set the retail price on each child product. * Approved retail customers see and pay the retail price in listings, cart, checkout and orders, in place of the regular and sale price. **Checkout** * Works with the classic checkout and the Checkout block. * Uploads are limited to PDF, JPEG and PNG, with content checks, a size limit and throttling. * Documents are stored privately under random file names and are only downloadable by store managers. * Compatible with High-Performance Order Storage. ## Blocks This plugin provides 2 blocks. * Tax exemption Checkbox and Tax Exemption Document upload for customers claiming tax exemption. * Retail Checkbox and Retail Certificate upload for retail orders. ## Installation 1. Install and activate WooCommerce. 2. Upload the plugin folder to `/wp-content/plugins/` and activate it. 3. Go to Tax Exempt & Retail Settings to choose which products and categories are offered the request form. 4. If you use the Checkout block, edit the checkout page and add the Tax exemption and Retail blocks inside the checkout fields. 5. On Nginx, deny direct access to `/wp-content/uploads/wcte-private/`. Apache is protected by an included .htaccess file. ## FAQ ### Who can approve requests? Users with the `manage_woocommerce` capability, such as shop managers and administrators. ### Do guests get tax exemption? No. Only logged-in customers can be approved. ### Does approval change orders already placed? No. It applies to new orders only. ### Which product types support the retail price? Simple, external, virtual, downloadable and variable products (per variation). For grouped products, set it on the child products. ### What happens to uploaded documents when the plugin is deleted? Settings are removed.
