## Description

Kloos Newsroom Sync Receiver runs on each destination site. It exposes a signed,
authenticated REST endpoint that the companion [Kloos Newsroom Sync Publisher](https://wordpress.org/plugins/kloos-newsroom-sync-publisher/)
plugin pushes articles to: title, content, excerpt, featured image, category and
SEO fields.

Articles are matched by the pair (source site ID, central post ID), never by title
or slug, so a repeated push updates the existing post instead of creating a duplicate—
safe to retry, safe to re-publish.

#### How it works

 1. Activate this plugin here, on the destination site.
 2. Generate a connection key in Settings.
 3. Paste that key into the Publisher site’s Sites screen.

Nothing is pulled: this plugin never reaches out to the Publisher on its own. Every
request is signed and initiated by the Publisher; this plugin only verifies and
imports what it receives.

### External Services

This plugin connects to the following external service:

**The Publisher site’s featured image** — when an incoming article includes a featured
image, this plugin downloads it directly from the URL supplied in that (signed,
authenticated) request, using WordPress’s own HTTP API, so the image can be attached
to the imported post. This only ever happens for a Publisher site you’ve explicitly
connected with a key; no other URL is ever fetched, and no data is sent anywhere—
this is a download, not an upload.

## Installation

 1. Upload the `kloos-newsroom-sync-receiver` folder to `/wp-content/plugins/`, or
install the ZIP from Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin.
 2. Activate the plugin.
 3. Go to Settings, generate a connection key, and give it to whoever manages the Publisher
    site.

## FAQ

### Does this plugin contact any outside service on its own?

No, it never initiates a connection anywhere. It only responds to signed requests
sent by a Publisher site you’ve given a key to — see “External Services” below for
the one exception (fetching the featured image itself).

### What happens to a post if the Publisher deletes the original article?

Depends on this plugin’s own settings: by default the imported copy is left alone;
you can opt in to have it trashed automatically when the Publisher reports a deletion.

### Can more than one Publisher site push to the same Receiver?

Yes. Each connection has its own key, and posts are matched per source site, so
multiple Publishers can push to the same destination without colliding.

## Changelog

#### 1.2.0

 * Change: internal function, hook, constant, option, post meta and database table
names now use the `knsrcv_`/`KNSRCV_` prefix instead of `wns_rcv_`/`WNS_RECEIVER_`(
WordPress.org requires prefixes over 4 characters; “wns” was too short). The
REST endpoint and the signed-request format are unchanged, so every Publisher
   version keeps working.

#### 1.1.1

 * Compatible with PHP 7.4 and newer.

#### 1.1.0

 * The import response now carries `local_post_url`, the address of the imported
article (used by the Publisher’s PDF report).

#### 1.0.0

 * Initial project skeleton.
