CDN-Powered NextGEN Galleries with Jetpack Photon

If you’re using Jetpack’s Photon CDN, this plugin will extend the service to galleries created with NextGEN Gallery. Just activate it and gallery images are automatically served from Photon.

NextGEN Gallery’s image size settings are respected, meaning you can update your gallery image sizes on the fly without regenerating images.

Leveraging the’s cloud, your galleries should load faster and use fewer hosting resources.

  1. Upload jetpack-photon-for-nextgen.php to /wp-content/plugins/.
  2. Activate plugin through the WordPress Plugins menu.

Are there any options?

Nope, it’s a pretty straightforward plugin. So long as you have Jetpack and NextGEN Gallery installed, and you have galleries, it just works.

Seems easy. Installs easy, doesn’t conflict with anything.

But, I can’t find out if images load faster. The Pingdom score doesn’t show the site to be faster.

So, I’ll keep testing it, for now it is a 4 but could easily be a five once I verify that it is working. I have 2000 images in NextGen galleries and I hope they are loading faster.
