There’s no subscription, no middleman, and no markup: you pay your chosen provider directly for what you use, at their own rates. **Bring your own key.** Connect one of three providers — OpenAI, Anthropic (Claude), or Google Gemini — with an API key you already have or create in a couple of minutes. The plugin automatically discovers which of that provider’s current models it can use, and recommends one for you. **External service: your chosen AI provider.** To generate a reply, this plugin sends a visitor’s chat message (plus a short recent conversation history, and any Site Knowledge/product data relevant to that message) to the AI provider you’ve connected — OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google — using your own API key. That request happens over the internet, server-side, and is subject to that provider’s own terms of service and privacy policy: [OpenAI](https://openai.com/policies/), [Anthropic](https://www.anthropic.com/legal), [Google](https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms). No request is ever sent unless you’ve configured a key for that provider and enabled the assistant. **Security-first, by design.** Every AI request runs server-side. Your API key is stored server-side only, is never returned by any REST response, and is never written to a log. The assistant has no ability to execute code, run database queries, or take any action on your site beyond generating a text reply. **Site Knowledge.** Choose which of your site’s own public, published pages the assistant can reference when answering questions — the plugin can even suggest a sensible starting set (About, Contact, FAQ, Shipping, Returns, and similar pages) so you don’t have to hunt for them yourself. Only content you’ve explicitly selected is ever used; drafts, private, and password-protected content are never eligible. **WooCommerce product answers.** If you run a WooCommerce store, the assistant can answer real questions about your published products — prices, categories, stock — using only public catalog data. It never sees orders, customers, or payment information, and it can never modify anything in your store. **Streaming replies with Stop.** Responses appear incrementally as they’re generated, with a Stop control if a visitor wants to interrupt a reply in progress. **Looks like part of your site.** Accent color, position, launcher label, and welcome message are all yours to set — the widget is built to sit quietly alongside your existing design, not fight it. #### Costs This plugin is free. Upload the plugin to `/wp-content/plugins/irozon-ai-assistant`, or install it directly from the WordPress plugin directory. 2. Activate the plugin through the “Plugins” screen in WordPress. 3. Go to “AI Assistant” in the admin menu. 4. Choose a provider and paste in your API key, then click “Test connection”. 5. Add your business name and (optionally) a short description. 6. Under “Site Knowledge”, accept the suggested pages or pick your own. 7. Turn on “Show the assistant on your website” when you’re happy with how it looks in the preview. ## FAQ ### Is it free? Yes. The plugin itself is free, with no subscription or paid tier. Using it requires an API key from your chosen AI provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google), and that provider bills you directly for the API usage your visitors generate, at their own rates. Irozon AB does not charge for this plugin and does not act as a billing intermediary. ### Do I need an API key? Yes. The assistant cannot function without one — you connect your own key from at least one supported provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google Gemini) before the chat widget can be enabled. ### Which AI providers are supported? OpenAI, Anthropic (Claude), and Google Gemini. You connect one with your own API key; the plugin never supplies or shares a key on your behalf. ### Does my API key appear in the browser? No. Every AI request runs server-side. The key is stored server-side only (or, if set via a `wp-config.php` constant or environment variable instead, it never touches the database at all), and it is never sent to the browser, never returned by any REST API response, and never written to a log. ### Is WooCommerce required? No. The plugin works fully as a general site assistant without WooCommerce installed or active. WooCommerce product assistance is an optional feature, off by default, that only becomes available when WooCommerce is active and you explicitly turn it on. ### Does the assistant know about my products? Only if you turn on product assistance in the “Store products” section, and only if WooCommerce is active. It can then answer questions using your published products’ public price, category, and stock information. ### Does it send customer or order information? No, never. The assistant only ever reads published, publicly visible product catalog data (name, price, category, stock status, a short description, and the product image). It has no code path to orders, customers, payment information, coupons, or any other WooCommerce data, and it can never modify anything in your store. ### Can the assistant see private pages, drafts, or WooCommerce order data? No. Site Knowledge only ever includes published, public pages you’ve explicitly selected. Product assistance only ever includes published, publicly visible products. Neither can ever include drafts, private/password-protected content, orders, customers, or any other non-public data. ### What content does Site Knowledge use? Only the specific published, public pages (and, if you opt in, recent blog posts) you explicitly select in the “Site Knowledge” settings section — the plugin can suggest a starting set, but nothing is ever included automatically without your selection. Drafts, private posts, and password-protected content are never eligible, regardless of selection. ### Does it support streaming? Yes. Replies appear incrementally as they’re generated, with a Stop control so a visitor can interrupt a reply in progress. ### Can I disable the assistant? Yes. Turning off “Show the assistant on your website” in the settings immediately stops the chat widget from appearing on your site, without losing your configuration— turn it back on whenever you’re ready. To remove the assistant from a page/theme entirely, deactivating the plugin has the same effect. ### What happens to a visitor’s conversation? It’s sent to your chosen AI provider to generate a reply, under that provider’s own privacy policy. It’s kept in the visitor’s own browser (not this site’s database) so it survives closing and reopening the chat panel during one visit, and clears when they close the tab. No. This plugin sends no analytics, telemetry, or usage data to Irozon AB or any third party other than the AI provider you’ve explicitly configured. ### What happens if I deactivate WooCommerce? The assistant keeps working normally — product assistance simply becomes unavailable again, exactly as if it had never been enabled. Nothing else about the plugin depends on WooCommerce being active. ### What happens if I deactivate or delete the plugin? Deactivating stops the assistant from running but keeps your settings and any database- stored API key in place, so reactivating restores your exact prior configuration. Deleting the plugin from wp-admin (Plugins Delete, after deactivating) permanently removes everything this plugin ever wrote to your database — settings, any database- stored provider key, cached knowledge/model data, and rate-limit records.
