...but there are no customisation options and it's not responsive, making this completely useless for anyone who doesn't happen to have an area for it that's the specific size the author intended.

Please excuse the self-review. Unfortunately, the WordPress directory shows zero stars for a new plugin until a first review. Newcomers may mistakenly believe a plugin is defective or not suitable for their version of WordPress.
