Japan’s official CSV published by the Cabinet Office is supported out of the box * Optionally treat holidays the same as closed days, with the same background color, via “Treat holidays as closed days” * Navigate between the previous and next month without a page reload * Add it with the “Gorogoro Calendar” block editor block, or the [gorogoro_calendar] shortcode * Ships with an English translation in addition to the default Japanese #### About holiday data Prepare your country or region’s public holiday data as a CSV file (UTF-8) with the date in the first column and the holiday name in the second column, then import it from the plugin’s settings page. Install and activate the plugin. 2. Go to “Settings > Closed Day Calendar” to configure the labels and colors for closed days and events. 3. Insert the [gorogoro_calendar] shortcode into a page or post, or add the “Gorogoro Calendar” block from the block editor. ## FAQ ### Does this connect to specific posts or custom post types? No, it does not connect to posts or custom post types. Closed days, events, and holidays are all registered directly from the “Settings > Closed Day Calendar” admin screen — it’s a simple, standalone mechanism. ### Where can I get holiday data? Any country’s public holiday data works, as long as it’s a CSV file with the date in the first column and the holiday name in the second column. For Japan, download the official “National Holidays” CSV published by the Cabinet Office, then upload it from “Import Holiday Data” in the settings screen. A new CSV is published on the Cabinet Office site each year, so re-import it whenever you want to update the data. ### Can I register a date range instead of a single day? Yes. When adding an individual entry, fill in an end date in addition to the start date to cover a range such as a year-end/New Year break. Leave the end date blank to register a single day. ### Can I edit an individual entry after registering it? Yes. Click “Edit” next to the entry in the list to load its details into the form, make your changes, and click “Update”. ### Can holidays be treated as closed days? Yes. Enabling “Treat holidays as closed days” in the Holiday Display setting will display holidays with the same background color as closed days. Any date individually registered as “Open” will still be shown as a business day, even if it’s a holiday. ### Can I change the colors of closed days and events? Yes. Closed days, events, and holidays each have their own background color and text color, set individually with a color picker. For example, if you choose a light background color, you can set a darker text color for readability. ### Should I use the block editor or the shortcode? Either shows the same calendar. With the block editor, you can add the “Gorogoro Calendar” block and configure the title, legend visibility, and other options through the UI. With the shortcode, just insert [gorogoro_calendar] directly into a page or post. ### The previous/next month buttons don’t work On the live front-end, the previous/next month buttons switch months via AJAX without a page reload. In the block editor’s preview, button clicks are disabled so that clicking the calendar selects the block instead. Please try the actual preview or the published page to see the navigation in action. ### The shortcode is displayed as plain text instead of the calendar A “Custom HTML” widget or block does not execute shortcodes, so [gorogoro_calendar] will simply appear as text. Please place it in a “Text” widget or a “Paragraph” block instead. Shortcodes work as expected in the content area of pages and posts. ### Is this plugin available in English? Yes. The default text is Japanese, and an English (en_US) translation is bundled.
