No API key needed in the plugin — it works out of the box with whichever provider your site uses. **Direct provider support:** optionally connect to Google Gemini or OpenAI with your own API key for full control over model selection and image sizing. **Features:** * Generate one image from the editor metabox or the post-list row action. * Bulk generate via the native Bulk Actions dropdown or the dedicated Bulk Generate screen. * Background queue processes images one at a time in the background — you can close the tab. * Scope selection: queue all posts, only those missing an image, or only broken/ 404 images. * Detect and fix ghost thumbnails (featured image set but file is missing/404). * Auto-generate on publish; scheduled hourly backfill (cron). * Customisable prompt template with {title}, {excerpt}, {category} placeholders, plus global style and negative prompt fields. * WP-CLI: `wp aitg generate` and `wp aitg test`. * API keys encrypted at rest; one-click Test Connection. * Diagnostics panel for troubleshooting. Developer hooks: `aitg_prompt` (filter), `aitg_thumbnail_generated` (action), `aitg_request_timeout`( filter), `aitg_queue_min_gap` (filter). ### Third-Party Services This plugin connects to external AI services to generate images. **No data is sent unless you initiate a generation.** When you do, the plugin sends the post title, excerpt, and your prompt template to the selected provider. No personal user data, cookies, or tracking information is transmitted. #### WordPress AI Client (default) When the “WordPress AI Client” provider is selected (the default), the plugin uses WordPress core’s `wp_ai_client_prompt()` API introduced in WordPress 7.0. The AI provider and credentials are managed by WordPress itself under Settings Connectors. The plugin does not connect to any external service directly in this mode — WordPress core handles the connection. Upload the `globe-boss-ai-image-generator` folder to /wp-content/plugins/. 2. Activate the plugin. 3. Go to GB AI Images Settings and pick a provider: 4. * **WordPress AI Client** (default) — uses the provider configured in Settings Connectors. No key needed. * **Google Gemini** or **OpenAI** — paste your own API key and click Test Connection. 5. Use GB AI Images Bulk Generate to queue images, or the “Generate AI thumbnail” row action on individual posts. ## FAQ ### Does this plugin track users? No. The plugin does not track visitors, set cookies, or collect any personal data. It only sends post content (title and excerpt) to the selected AI provider when an administrator explicitly triggers image generation. ### Does it work without an API key? Yes, when using the WordPress AI Client provider (the default).
