## Description

**Genibar turns the knowledge your business already has into an AI agent for your

WordPress website.
Upload documents, let Genibar read your website, or write Q&
A —
then visitors can ask questions in plain language and get accurate answers
from that content, day and night.

Every business answers the same questions over and over: What do you charge? Do
you
ship to my country? What’s the refund policy? How does this feature work? The
answers already exist — in your PDFs, your pages, your policies, your team’s heads.
Genibar gives that knowledge a voice on your website.

#### How is this different from other AI chatbots?

Most AI chatbots answer from the open internet. They don’t know your prices, your

policies, or your products — and when they don’t know, they guess. On your website,
a guess is a liability.

Genibar answers differently: before responding, it retrieves the relevant parts
of
**your** content and answers from that. If your content doesn’t cover a question,
it says so instead of inventing an answer — and logs the question so you know exactly
what to add next. Your unanswered questions become your content to-do list.

#### Why Genibar?

 * **Your knowledge, not the internet’s** — answers come from documents you upload
   (
PDF, Word, Excel, Markdown, text), pages crawled from your website, and Q&A you
   write. Nothing is invented.
 * **Instant answers for visitors** — questions about products, services, pricing,

policies and documentation get answered in seconds, in natural language.
 * **Fewer repetitive support requests** — the AI handles the front line so your

team handles what actually needs a person.
 * **Human handoff built in** — visitors can ask for a person at any time. The

conversation lands in your team’s Inbox in Genibar and a human replies in the
   same thread.
 * **Lead capture** — optionally ask for name, email or phone before a chat starts.

Submissions appear as leads in your dashboard with the full conversation attached.
 * **No AI keys, no code** — Genibar runs the AI for you. Install the plugin, paste

your agent key, done. No OpenAI account, no per-token bills, no theme edits.

#### Use cases

 * **Customer support** — FAQs, policies, how-tos, order and shipping questions.
 * **E-commerce** — sizing, shipping, returns: the questions that decide whether
   a
    basket becomes an order.
 * **Service businesses** — answer “do you do X?” while you sleep, and capture the

   lead.
 * **Documentation** — let users ask your docs a question instead of searching them.
 * **Agencies** — build a separate agent per client, each on that client’s knowledge.
 * **Internal teams** — the same agents can answer your own staff inside Genibar,

from policies, SOPs and product sheets.

#### How it works

 1. Create a free account at [genibar.com](https://genibar.com/).
 2. Add your knowledge: upload documents, crawl your website, or write Q&A.
 3. Create an AI agent, choose its tone and instructions, and connect the knowledge.
 4. Test it in the Playground — exactly as a visitor would experience it.
 5. Authorize your WordPress site in the portal and copy the agent key.
 6. Install this plugin, paste the key, and the chat appears on your site.

The plugin is the website integration layer. Your agent, its knowledge base, its

behaviour and its appearance are all managed in the Genibar portal at https://app.
genibar.com/ — changes there apply to your site instantly.

#### Customization

All configured in the portal, with a live preview:

 * Launcher styles (icon only or icon + text), professional icons, custom launcher
   text
 * Solid or gradient colors to match your brand
 * Greeting message and suggested questions
 * Operating hours with an offline message
 * Optional pre-chat form (name, email, phone) for lead capture

#### Website authorization, in plain terms

For security, your Genibar agent only works on websites you have explicitly
 authorized
in your Genibar account. The key you paste into WordPress is a public identifier,
not a password — a key copied to an unauthorized site does nothing, because Genibar
refuses the session on the server. Installing the plugin does not by itself authorize
anything, the plugin stores no secrets, and uninstalling removes only its local
settings.

Genibar is **free to get started** — no credit card required.

### External services

This plugin is a connector for the Genibar service (https://genibar.com). It does

nothing until you connect it to your own Genibar account.

When enabled with an agent key, your site’s front end loads the chat widget script

from app.genibar.com, and visitors’ chat messages are sent to Genibar so your AI
agent can answer them. Visitor details (name, email, phone) are only collected if
you enable a pre-chat form, and are stored in your Genibar account. The plugin sends
no data to Genibar from your WordPress admin.

## Installation

 1. In your Genibar portal ([app.genibar.com](https://app.genibar.com/)), add and authorize
your website under the agent’s integration settings, and copy the agent key shown
    there.
 2. In WordPress go to Plugins Add New, search for “Genibar”, then install and activate.(
Or upload the ZIP via Plugins Add New Upload Plugin.)
 3. You’ll land on the Genibar setup guide. Paste your agent key, tick “Show the Genibar
chat widget on this site”, and save.
 4. Open your website — the chat launcher appears. Ask it something your knowledge
    covers.
 5. If the widget doesn’t appear, confirm the site is on the agent’s authorized list
in the portal (the setup guide has a one-click copy of your site address for this).

No coding knowledge is required at any step.

## FAQ

### What is Genibar?

Genibar is a platform that turns your own business knowledge — documents, website

content and written Q&A — into AI agents. This plugin connects a Genibar agent to
your WordPress website so visitors can ask it questions.

### Can the AI answer questions about my products and services?

Yes — that’s the point. Upload your product sheets, policies and documentation,
or
let Genibar read your website. The agent answers from exactly that content.

### Can I use my own business documents?

Yes. PDF, Word, Excel, Markdown and plain-text files are supported, alongside
 website
crawling and hand-written Q&A.

### How can I add an AI chatbot to my WordPress website?

Create a free Genibar account, add your knowledge, create an agent, authorize your

site, then install this plugin and paste your agent key. The whole setup takes about
ten minutes and needs no code.

### Do I need my own OpenAI or AI API key?

No. Genibar runs the AI for you. There are no API keys to manage and no per-token

bills.

### Do I need coding knowledge?

No. Everything is configured through the Genibar portal and this plugin’s settings

page.

### Can I customize the chatbot’s appearance and greeting?

Yes — launcher style and icon, custom launcher text, solid or gradient colors, the

greeting message, and suggested questions are all configured in the portal with
a live preview. Changes apply to your site instantly.

### Where do the AI’s answers come from?

Only from the knowledge you connect in your Genibar account. If your content
 doesn’t
cover a question, the agent says it doesn’t have that information — it never invents
answers. Unanswered questions are collected so you know which content to add.

### Why does my website need to be authorized?

It’s the security model: your agent only responds on sites you’ve approved in
 your
Genibar account. This means nobody can copy your key onto another website and use
your agent — the server refuses the session for unauthorized domains.

### Does the plugin work on any WordPress website?

Any single-site WordPress installation (5.8 or newer) where you can install
 plugins.
Multisite is not supported in this release.

### Will it slow down my WordPress site?

No. The plugin adds one small script that loads asynchronously from Genibar’s
 servers—
your pages render exactly as before, and the chat runs in an isolated widget that
can’t conflict with your theme or other plugins.

### I toggled the widget on/off — when does it apply?

Within seconds, even on cached pages, and without clearing any cache. Before it

shows anything, the widget checks your site’s live setting, so cached HTML never
decides on its own — Genibar never needs to purge your page caches to turn the chat
on or off. (Note: if you see your cache being cleared right after installing or
updating the plugin, that’s your caching plugin’s own “purge on plugin update” behaviour,
not Genibar.)

### The chat widget isn’t appearing on my site

First check Settings Genibar: your agent key must be pasted, “Show the Genibar

chat widget on this site” must be ticked, and your site must be on the agent’s authorized
list in the Genibar portal. If all three are set and the chat still doesn’t show
for you — but it appears in a private/incognito window or a different browser —
then your browser is serving an old cached copy of the page from before the widget
was enabled. Force it to fetch a fresh copy with a hard reload:

 * Windows (Chrome, Edge, Firefox): press Ctrl + Shift + R (or Ctrl + F5).
 * Mac (Safari): press Cmd + Option + R (Reload From Origin). On Chrome or Firefox

for Mac, press Cmd + Shift + R.

Why this happens: browsers keep a local copy of pages you visit often, so a page

you loaded before installing the plugin can linger in your own browser without the
chat script. A hard reload replaces that stale copy. It only affects your browser—
your visitors always get the current page and see the chat normally.

### The agent isn’t answering, or answers are incomplete

Check the knowledge, not the plugin: in the portal, use the knowledge base’s Test

Knowledge feature to see what your content can answer. If a question fails there,
the source material is missing or still processing — add or update the document
and test again.

### Is Genibar free?

Genibar is free to get started — no credit card required. Paid plans with higher

usage limits are coming as the platform grows.

### Does uninstalling delete my agent or conversations?

No. Uninstalling removes only this plugin’s local settings. Everything in Genibar

is preserved. To stop the widget for good, disconnect the site in the portal.

### Does the plugin update automatically?

Yes — updates are delivered through WordPress.org like any directory plugin.
 Your
key and settings are preserved across updates.

## Changelog

#### 1.5.1

 * New: a “Rate us on WordPress.org” link on the settings page.
 * Docs: added a “chat widget not appearing? try a hard reload” FAQ, and corrected
the cache/toggle FAQ to match the current no-purge behaviour.

#### 1.5.0

 * Genibar no longer purges your page caches. The chat widget checks a live setting
before it shows, so turning it on/off, changing your key, and deactivating all
apply without any cache purge. On a brand-new connection the chat appears on
already-cached pages once they refresh on their own (usually minutes).

#### 1.4.4

 * The settings page now shows the installed plugin version.

#### 1.4.3

 * The on/off switch now applies within seconds on cached pages with no cache purge:
the widget checks a live, cache-busted state endpoint. Toggling no longer purges
caches (only changing the key does).

#### 1.4.2

 * Fixed: turning the “Show the Genibar chat widget” switch OFF and saving now

reliably persists — an unchecked box previously left the setting unchanged.

#### 1.4.1

 * The “Show the Genibar chat widget” switch now takes effect within seconds even
   when
page caches serve older HTML: the widget checks the site’s live setting
before it initializes. Also guards against double-initialization on cached pages.

#### 1.4.0

 * First WordPress.org release. Refreshed listing, setup guide copy and documentation.

#### 1.3.1

 * The widget script is now registered via wp_enqueue_script (WordPress coding standards);
   input sanitization and readme refinements.

#### 1.3.0

 * New setup guide on the settings screen: step-by-step onboarding for first-time
users, with a one-click copy of your site address for the authorized-websites
   list.
 * After activation you land directly on the setup guide.

#### 1.2.1

 * Quieter installation: per-URL cache purging now runs silently via server headers.

#### 1.2.0

 * Stronger automatic cache purging: purge-all plus per-URL purging (home + published
pages/posts), which also clears server-level LiteSpeed caches that ignore wildcard
   purges.

#### 1.1.0

 * Automatically purge known page caches on activation, deactivation and settings
save, so the widget appears for logged-out visitors immediately.

#### 1.0.0

 * First release. Connect an authorized website to a Genibar agent via its public
   key.
