## Description

**Flavors Media OS** brings WordPress media library folders, local image optimization
and media cleanup into one workspace. Find files faster, create WebP and AVIF images,
and review unused media before removing anything.

Organize your uploads into unlimited virtual folders without changing image URLs.
Optimize images on your own WordPress server, keep backups of originals, and restore
them when needed. No image credits, optimization account or external image-processing
service is required.

**Start with the tools you need:**

 * **Media library folders:** drag and drop, nested folders, colors, search and
   sorting.
 * **Image optimization:** local compression, bulk jobs and WebP/AVIF conversion
   where your server supports it.
 * **Media cleanup:** unused-media candidates, exact duplicates and missing-file
   reports, with recoverable Trash.
 * **Image SEO and accessibility:** review ALT text, filenames and image dimensions;
optionally generate ALT text through your configured WordPress AI connector.
 * **Media delivery:** serve files through a pull CDN you configure, with original-
   URL fallback when disabled.

Core media management runs locally. CDN delivery and AI ALT text are optional and
use the providers you choose. Features and limits for the separate Pro edition are
described below.

Built by [FlavorsWP](https://flavorswp.com/).

#### Media dashboard and optimization progress

 * See space saved, WebP/AVIF coverage and your media health score, with a breakdown
   of what affects it
 * Watch optimizations and conversions as they run: progress, files per minute,
time left and bytes saved, updating automatically
 * A feed of the latest optimized and converted files, and a 14-day activity chart
   with a table view

#### WordPress media library folders

 * Unlimited nested virtual folders that never change your media URLs
 * Folder sidebar inside the Media Library and the media picker in the editor, with
drag and drop, pins and colors
 * Upload straight into a folder, or drop files while a folder is selected, and
remember the last folder you used
 * Folder sidebar for Posts, Pages and the Media Library list view, with drag and
drop, counts, search and an Unfiled view
 * Sort the media grid by date, name, file size or manual order
 * Large hover preview with filename, dimensions and size
 * Import folders from FileBird, HappyFiles and Real Media Library without touching
   their data
 * Put one file in several folders without copying it: drag to move, hold Alt/Ctrl
to also add, or use the keyboard menu
 * Download any folder as a ZIP, with or without subfolders, optionally including
   WebP/AVIF copies
 * Folder galleries as a block or `[fmos_gallery]` shortcode: grid, masonry, justified
rows or carousel, with an accessible lightbox, WebP/AVIF delivery and Load more
 * Built-in filter presets for common reviews (missing ALT, large files, unused,
   and more)

#### Local image optimization and WebP/AVIF conversion

 * Local JPEG, PNG, WebP and AVIF optimization using the image editor your server
   provides
 * Automatic optimization of new uploads, with an oversized-upload guard (warn,
   optimize, resize or reject)
 * WebP and AVIF generation for new uploads and the existing library, with automatic`
<picture>` delivery and original fallback for theme images and images inside
   posts and pages
 * Variants that would be larger than the original are discarded automatically
 * Reviewed bulk optimization jobs that back up originals first and resume if interrupted
 * Thumbnail optimization with size, path and date exclusions
 * Before/after comparison slider
 * Restore the original image exactly as it was before optimization, one at a time
   or in bulk

#### Deliver through your CDN

 * Serve media from any pull CDN: Cloudflare, Amazon CloudFront, Azure CDN / Front
Door, Bunny CDN, KeyCDN, Fastly, Google Cloud CDN, Akamai or your own
 * Rewrites attachment URLs, srcset, images in posts and WebP/AVIF `<picture>` sources,
and optionally theme and plugin CSS, JavaScript and fonts
 * Include and exclude paths, file-type allowlist, preconnect hint, one-click off
switch and a Test CDN button

#### AI ALT text

 * Generate ALT text with the AI provider you set up in WordPress 7 Settings Connectors,
from attachment details, the Media Library (row and bulk actions) and the Image
   block
 * Review and edit before saving; bulk runs skip images that already have ALT and
   can be undone
 * Short, descriptive ALT in your site language. Nothing is sent until an administrator
turns it on, and Flavors Media OS stores no AI keys

#### Native Media Library tools

 * Optimization column showing status, bytes saved and WebP/AVIF savings
 * Row actions: Optimize, Create WebP/AVIF and Replace
 * Bulk actions: Optimize, Create WebP/AVIF and Regenerate thumbnails for up to
500 images at a time, processed in the background

#### Media cleaner: review unused images and duplicates

 * Media inventory with usage tracking across posts, pages, page builders, ACF fields
   and widgets
 * Likely-unused media flagged for review, never deleted automatically
 * Exact duplicate detection
 * Missing-file detection and storage reports
 * Recoverable Trash with restore; permanent deletion requires a separate, explicit
   review

#### Everyday utilities

 * Replace a file while keeping the same attachment, with a choice of upload-date
   handling
 * Safe rename that updates known references and keeps an undo snapshot
 * Thumbnail Manager: regenerate selected images, the whole library or featured
images in the background; WebP/AVIF copies are re-created automatically
 * Remove thumbnail sizes your theme no longer uses, after review, with encrypted
   backups and undo
 * Bulk title, caption, description and ALT editing, media categories/tags and reviewed
   CSV import/export
 * Sanitized SVG uploads (off by default; administrators choose who may upload)
and a responsive SVG Image block
 * Local MP4 video block and shortcode player
 * Media SEO and accessibility findings (missing or generic ALT, filenames, dimensions)
 * Background job center with pause, resume and retry
 * WordPress dashboard widget and System Health report

#### For developers

 * Authenticated REST API
 * Complete WP-CLI interface (`wp flavors-media`): scan, optimize, formats, restore,
thumbnails, unused, duplicates, folders, metadata, ALT, jobs, settings, CDN and
   reports, with `--dry-run`, `--format=json|csv` and `--sync`
 * Extension hooks

#### Flavors Media OS Pro

Flavors Media OS Pro is a separate download that replaces the Free plugin. Image
processing runs on your own server; optional cloud storage, CDN cache purging and
AI use only the providers you configure, with no per-image credits.

 * **Smart compression:** Lossless, Balanced, Compact and Adaptive profiles applied
to originals and thumbnails in bulk and on upload, kept only when smaller and
visually verified. Uses jpegoptim, oxipng, pngquant, cwebp and gifsicle when
   your server has them.
 * **Responsive sizes:** generates missing widths and 2x versions with WebP/AVIF
   copies for `srcset` and `<picture>`.
 * **AI agents (MCP):** connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client through
the official WordPress MCP Adapter, with one-click WordPress approval for remote
assistants. Read-only tools for media health, search, usage, storage, duplicates,
SEO, folders and CDN status; organizing media is a separate opt-in, and agents
   can never delete files.
 * **Agent Approval Inbox:** AI assistants connected over MCP can only propose renames,
optimization, ALT text, replacements, folder moves and cleanup. You review a
before/after diff, approve or reject, and roll back from history.
 * **Context-aware AI ALT text:** uses the page, nearby text and WooCommerce product
details, in the language you choose, with SEO filename suggestions and bulk refresh
by post. Works with a local model or WordPress 7 AI connectors.
 * **Accessibility Score:** 0–100 scores for every image, video and page with plain
explanations and a one-click fix queue.
 * **Media Rights & Licenses:** record source, license, credit, expiry and releases
for each file; see expired images still in use; add automatic credits.
 * **Page-weight budgets:** set image budgets per post type or template, find heavy
pages, queue fixes and see an estimated CO2 figure.
 * **Cloud storage:** offload the library to Amazon S3, Cloudflare R2, DigitalOcean
Spaces, Wasabi, Backblaze B2, Google Cloud Storage, MinIO, Azure Blob Storage
or Bunny Storage, with checksum-verified uploads, serving from the bucket or
a CDN, optional removal of local copies and one-click download back.
 * **CDN cache purge:** clears Cloudflare, CloudFront, Azure Front Door / CDN, Bunny,
KeyCDN and Fastly caches automatically when files are replaced, optimized, renamed
or restored, plus optional Cloudflare and Bunny on-the-fly resizing.
 * **Smart folders:** folders that fill themselves from rules such as type, size,
dimensions, missing ALT, unused or license expiring.
 * **Folder upload rules:** minimum size, maximum file size, formats, aspect ratio,
filename pattern and required ALT per folder, warning or blocking on upload.
 * Also: optimizing images in theme, plugin and custom folders with encrypted backups,
version history, similar-image detection and duplicate consolidation, smart collections,
scheduled HTML/PDF reports, Smart PNG-to-JPEG, WooCommerce image tools, multisite
reporting, watermark and focal crop, GIF/PDF/video transforms and HLS streaming.

Some Pro tools need software on your server such as Imagick, FFmpeg, Ghostscript
or Node.js; Flavors Media OS checks what your server supports and tells you before
you start. [Compare editions](https://flavorswp.com/).

### External services

Flavors Media OS does not send media or site data to FlavorsWP, and the Free edition
works without any account or external service. Every service below is off until
a site administrator configures it.

**Freemius (Flavors Media OS Pro only).** This free version from WordPress.org does
not include Freemius and never contacts it. Flavors Media OS Pro, sold separately,
uses the Freemius SDK for license activation, checkout and Pro updates: when you
activate a Pro license, Freemius receives the license key, your site URL and title,
and WordPress, PHP and Flavors Media OS versions. Service provider: Freemius, Inc.
[Terms of Service](https://freemius.com/terms/), [Privacy Policy](https://freemius.com/privacy/).

**AI connectors (Free and Pro, off by default).** When an administrator turns on
AI ALT text (WordPress 7.0+), Flavors Media OS first asks the configured connector
whether it accepts images (a 1×1 test image), and then the images you choose and
a short instruction (Pro: also nearby text from the post) are sent through the WordPress
AI Client to the provider configured in Settings Connectors (for example OpenAI,
Anthropic or Google), under that provider’s terms and privacy policy: [OpenAI terms](https://openai.com/policies/terms-of-use),
[OpenAI privacy](https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy), [Anthropic terms](https://www.anthropic.com/legal/commercial-terms),
[Anthropic privacy](https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy), [Google terms](https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms),
[Google privacy](https://policies.google.com/privacy). With Pro’s local option,
nothing leaves your server.

Flavors Media OS loads all of its own scripts, styles, fonts and images from the
plugin folder. It does not load any file from FlavorsWP or a third-party server.

**Your CDN (Free, off by default).** CDN delivery is a service you bring: it works
only after an administrator enters the hostname of a CDN account they already have,
and Flavors Media OS never creates, sells or contacts a CDN account on its own.
The provider presets (example hostnames such as `*.cloudfront.net` or `*.b-cdn.net`)
only help you fill in your own hostname. When a hostname is saved, Flavors Media
OS rewrites media URLs (and optionally theme and plugin CSS, JavaScript and font
URLs) on your pages to that hostname, so visitors’ browsers load those files from
your CDN, which receives their IP address and request headers like any web server.
Your CDN copies files from your own site. Only when an administrator clicks Test
CDN, Flavors Media OS sends a HEAD request for one file to that CDN (the request’s
user agent includes your site address) and one to your own site to compare them.
Turning the CDN off restores your original URLs immediately. The CDN is run by the
provider you chose, under its terms: Cloudflare ([terms](https://www.cloudflare.com/website-terms/),
[privacy](https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/)), Amazon CloudFront ([terms](https://aws.amazon.com/service-terms/),
[privacy](https://aws.amazon.com/privacy/)), Azure CDN / Front Door ([terms](https://azure.microsoft.com/support/legal/),
[privacy](https://privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement)), Bunny CDN ([terms](https://bunny.net/tos/),
[privacy](https://bunny.net/privacy/)), KeyCDN ([terms](https://www.keycdn.com/terms),
[privacy](https://www.keycdn.com/privacy)), Fastly ([terms](https://www.fastly.com/terms),
[privacy](https://www.fastly.com/privacy)), Google Cloud CDN ([terms](https://cloud.google.com/terms),
[privacy](https://policies.google.com/privacy)), Akamai ([terms](https://www.akamai.com/legal),
[privacy](https://www.akamai.com/legal/privacy-statement)) or any other pull CDN
you use.

**CDN cache purge APIs (Pro, off by default).** When files change or you click Purge,
the URLs to clear and your API credentials are sent to the provider you configured:
Cloudflare (`api.cloudflare.com`; [terms](https://www.cloudflare.com/website-terms/),
[privacy](https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/)), Amazon CloudFront (`cloudfront.
amazonaws.com`; [terms](https://aws.amazon.com/service-terms/), [privacy](https://aws.amazon.com/privacy/)),
Microsoft Entra ID and Azure Resource Manager (`login.microsoftonline.com`, `management.
azure.com`; [terms](https://azure.microsoft.com/support/legal/), [privacy](https://privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement)),
Bunny (`api.bunny.net`; [terms](https://bunny.net/tos/), [privacy](https://bunny.net/privacy/)),
KeyCDN (`api.keycdn.com`; [terms](https://www.keycdn.com/terms), [privacy](https://www.keycdn.com/privacy))
or Fastly (`api.fastly.com`; [terms](https://www.fastly.com/terms), [privacy](https://www.fastly.com/privacy)).

**Cloud storage (Pro, off by default).** When you offload media, the files (originals,
thumbnails and WebP/AVIF copies if enabled), their content type, checksums and storage
path are sent to the provider you configured, and are sent again when edited, deleted
remotely when you delete the attachment, and downloaded when you bring them back:
Amazon S3 ([terms](https://aws.amazon.com/service-terms/), [privacy](https://aws.amazon.com/privacy/)),
Cloudflare R2 ([terms](https://www.cloudflare.com/terms/), [privacy](https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/)),
DigitalOcean Spaces ([terms](https://www.digitalocean.com/legal/terms-of-service-agreement),
[privacy](https://www.digitalocean.com/legal/privacy-policy)), Wasabi ([terms](https://wasabi.com/legal/customer-agreement),
[privacy](https://wasabi.com/legal/privacy-policy)), Backblaze B2 ([terms](https://www.backblaze.com/company/policy/terms-of-service),
[privacy](https://www.backblaze.com/company/policy/privacy)), Google Cloud Storage(
[terms](https://cloud.google.com/terms), [privacy](https://policies.google.com/privacy)),
Azure Blob Storage ([terms](https://azure.microsoft.com/support/legal/), [privacy](https://privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement))
or Bunny Storage ([terms](https://bunny.net/tos/), [privacy](https://bunny.net/privacy/)).
With Serve from the cloud on, visitors’ browsers load media from that provider or
your CDN.

**MCP clients and remote AI assistants (Pro only).** This free version has no MCP
tools and accepts no assistant connections. In Pro: MCP tools run only when an MCP
client signed in as one of your users calls them, and they return data to that client
only. If you allow remote assistants to connect, the assistant you approve (for
example Claude by Anthropic, ChatGPT by OpenAI or Cursor) receives an access token
and the results of the tools it calls, under its provider’s terms: [Anthropic](https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy),
[OpenAI](https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy), [Cursor](https://cursor.com/privacy).
When an assistant identifies itself with an `https://` client ID, Flavors Media
OS fetches that public JSON document to show the app’s name; the request sends no
site data other than your site address in WordPress’s standard user agent. Flavors
Media OS does not contact any MCP service itself.

Optional anonymous image performance measurements (Pro) are stored only in your
own database, require visitor consent by default, respect Do Not Track and expire
after 30 days.

## FAQ

### Do I need an account or image credits to optimize images?

No. Image optimization runs on your own WordPress server using its available image
editor. There is no external image-optimization account or per-image credit allowance.
WebP and AVIF availability depends on your server. Optional AI and CDN services
may have their own provider costs.

### Can I optimize existing images in bulk?

Yes. You can queue optimization and format-conversion jobs for existing media. Jobs
run in the background, and original-image backups allow you to restore supported
optimization changes. Always keep a separate site backup before bulk changes.

### Does Flavors Media OS send my images anywhere?

Not unless you turn on a service yourself. Scanning, folders, cleanup analysis and
optimization all run on your WordPress server. Optional features use only the services
you configure: your CDN, your AI provider for ALT text, and in Pro your cloud storage.
See External services below.

### Does Flavors Media OS delete unused files automatically?

No. Usage detection is intentionally conservative. Cleanup candidates are listed
for your review, and removal goes to a recoverable Trash first.

### Will folders change my image URLs?

No. Folders are virtual. Files stay where WordPress put them.

### Does AVIF work on every server?

Only where your server’s image editor (GD or Imagick) can encode AVIF. Flavors Media
OS detects this and only offers formats your server supports.

### Is SVG upload safe?

SVG uploads are off by default. When an administrator enables them, every SVG is
parsed and sanitized before it is accepted, and only the roles or users you choose
may upload them (administrators only, unless you select others).

### Do I need AI to use Flavors Media OS?

No. AI ALT text is optional in both editions and stays off until an administrator
turns it on. Pro adds context-aware ALT, local models and more AI tools, all optional.

### Which AI providers does Pro support?

A local model server on your own host (nothing leaves the server), or any provider
configured in WordPress 7.0+ Settings Connectors. Flavors Media OS stores no AI
API keys, and an administrator must confirm before any prompt or image is sent to
an external provider.

### How do I connect Claude or another AI assistant?

Connecting AI assistants over MCP is part of Flavors Media OS Pro. This free version
does not register MCP tools or accept assistant connections.

### Which CDNs and cloud storage providers are supported?

Any pull CDN works for delivery in Free, with presets for Cloudflare, Amazon CloudFront,
Azure CDN / Front Door, Bunny, KeyCDN, Fastly and Google Cloud CDN. Pro adds automatic
cache purging for Cloudflare, CloudFront, Azure, Bunny, KeyCDN and Fastly, and cloud
storage on Amazon S3 and S3-compatible services, Azure Blob Storage and Bunny Storage.

### Can I switch from Free to Pro later?

Yes. Pro uses the same data, so your folders, settings and history carry over. Install
and activate Pro; it asks you to deactivate Free, which it replaces.
