## Description

Your WordPress Media Library can become difficult to manage as your site grows.

Filorium adds folders to your Media Library so you can organize files, find them
quickly, and manage them like files on your computer.

**Your files never move.** Filorium folders are virtual. Your files stay where WordPress
stores them, and their URLs do not change.
 Deactivate Filorium at any time and
your Media Library returns to its normal WordPress behavior.

#### Try it before you install

Try Filorium in a live WordPress site without installing anything or creating an
account: [Demo link](https://filorium.com)

#### Organize your media

 * Create folders and nested folders.
 * Drag and drop files and folders.
 * Cut, copy, paste, duplicate, and rename files.
 * Choose a folder when uploading files.
 * Drag a folder from your computer to import its folder structure.
 * Mark files as Favorites.
 * Switch between Grid, List, and Column views.
 * Preview files without leaving the library.
 * Edit title, caption, description, and alt text.
 * Work with your team and see changes as they happen.

#### Folders in the WordPress Media Library

Filorium can also add folders to the places where you already manage media.

 * Browse folders directly in the WordPress Media Library.
 * Use folders in the WordPress media picker.
 * Works with the block editor, classic editor, Featured Image, Customizer, and
   widgets.
 * Enable it from **Filorium Settings Media Library**.

#### Safer file deletion

Filorium helps you avoid deleting files that are still being used.

 * See how many known places use a file before deleting it.
 * Checks post and page content and featured images.
 * Deleted files go to Trash first.
 * Files known to be in use are not permanently deleted when the Trash is emptied.

#### Rename and replace files

 * Rename files without breaking existing pages that use them.
 * Replace a file with a new version while keeping existing references working.

#### Import folders from another plugin

Already using another media folder plugin? Filorium can import supported folder
structures.

 * See supported plugins under **Filorium Settings Import**.
 * Review what will be imported before making changes.
 * Filorium only reads the other plugin’s data and does not change it.

#### Safe by default

 * Filorium runs in the WordPress admin and does not load on your public pages.
 * Media permissions follow WordPress roles and capabilities.
 * Deactivating Filorium keeps your folders and data.
 * Deleting the plugin also keeps your data by default.

#### Filorium Pro

**The free version is fully usable.** There are no time limits, media limits, or
features disabled until you enter a license key.

Filorium Pro is a separate paid add-on with additional features:

 * **Collections** — label files and find them from anywhere.
 * **Multi-folder filing** — place one file in multiple folders.
 * **Copy folders** — duplicate complete folder structures.
 * **Folder colors** — quickly identify important folders.
 * **Similar & duplicates** — find duplicate and similar images.
 * **Missing metadata** — find files without alt text.
 * **Unused files** — find files that are no longer being used.
 * **Used-in panel** — see exactly where a file is being used.
 * **Filorium Library** — use the full Filorium workspace inside supported media
   pickers and page builders.
 * **Studio** — crop, rotate, resize, compress, and watermark images.
 * **Bulk metadata** — update alt text, captions, and descriptions for multiple
   files.
 * **Download as ZIP** — download a complete folder as one ZIP file.
 * **Unpack ZIP files** — extract ZIP files directly into folders.

Filorium Pro is a separate paid add-on available from [filorium.com](https://filorium.com).

All features described above this section are available in the free plugin.

#### Data and files

Filorium does not move your media files.

Your media files remain in WordPress’s uploads folder. Filorium stores folder and
other organizational information in your WordPress database.

This includes:

 * Folder and collection information.
 * A small activity log.
 * Information about where files are used.
 * Plugin settings and user preferences.
 * Daily maintenance tasks for the log and usage information.

Deactivating Filorium keeps this data.

Deleting Filorium also keeps the data unless you enable **Delete everything if the
plugin is removed** under **Settings Data**.

#### Files on disk

Creating folders and organizing files does not change your files on disk.

Only **Rename**, **Replace**, and **Empty Trash** can change files. These actions
require confirmation.

Filorium never modifies files outside the WordPress uploads folder.

#### External services

Filorium does not connect to external services.

The free plugin has:

 * No analytics.
 * No telemetry.
 * No license check.
 * No remote fonts, scripts, stylesheets, or images.

Everything required by Filorium is included in the plugin and runs on your WordPress
site.

The only external links are links you choose to open from **Settings Licence**,
which point to filorium.com.

Filorium Pro is a separate add-on and uses the Qevix Labs license service for license
activation. See the Pro add-on’s readme for details.

## FAQ

### Can I try Filorium before installing it?

Yes. Try the live demo at [demo.filorium.com](https://demo.filorium.com).

No installation or account is required. The demo includes folders, files, and Pro
features.

### Does Filorium move my files or change their URLs?

No. Filorium folders are virtual. Your files stay in WordPress’s uploads folder
and their URLs stay the same.

Only **Rename**, **Replace**, and **Empty Trash** can change files, and these actions
ask for confirmation.

### Does Filorium work with the block editor and classic editor?

Yes. Enable **Folder explorer** under **Filorium Settings Media Library**.

Folders can appear in the WordPress media picker, including the Image and Gallery
blocks, Featured Image, classic editor, Customizer, and widgets.

### Does Filorium work with page builders?

Page builders that use the standard WordPress media picker can use Filorium’s folders.

The full Filorium Library inside supported page builders such as Elementor, Beaver
Builder, SiteOrigin, Brizy, Visual Composer, Zion, and Themify is available in Filorium
Pro.

### How does Filorium know if a file is being used?

Filorium tracks known references to files in post and page content and featured
images.

Before deleting a file, Filorium shows the number of known references.

Some references stored by themes, widgets, or other plugins may not be detected.

### Will Filorium slow down my website?

Filorium runs in the WordPress admin and does not load on public pages.

Its usage information is updated when content is saved, with small maintenance tasks
running once a day.

### Can I import folders from another plugin?

Yes. Go to **Filorium Settings Import**.

Filorium detects supported plugins, shows what can be imported, and reads their
folder data without changing it.

### Do I need Filorium Pro?

No. The free plugin works on its own and does not lock features behind a license.

Pro adds collections, multi-folder filing, duplicate and unused-file detection,
the Filorium Library, Studio, bulk metadata tools, and ZIP tools.

### Do Filorium and Filorium Pro need to be on the same version?

No.

Filorium Pro connects to Filorium through versioned extension points, so Filorium
itself can be updated independently.

If an update requires a different version of the Pro add-on, Pro will pause until
the versions are compatible. Your data is not lost and the free features continue
working.

### What happens if I deactivate Filorium?

Your folders, settings, and data are kept.

The WordPress Media Library returns to its normal behavior while Filorium is inactive.

### What happens if I delete Filorium?

Your Filorium data is kept by default.

To remove everything, enable **Delete everything if the plugin is removed** under**
Settings Data** before deleting the plugin.

### Is Filorium translation-ready?

Yes. Filorium is translation-ready and includes a translation template.

Translations are provided through WordPress language packs from translate.wordpress.
org.

### Can I use Filorium with a keyboard?

Yes. The folder tree and all three views can be used with the keyboard.

Common actions have keyboard shortcuts, and resizable panels can also be adjusted
with the keyboard.

### Who made the icons?

Qevix Labs.

Filorium’s icons are custom inline SVG icons and are licensed under GPL-2.0-or-later.

See `assets/ICONS.LICENSE.txt` for details.

## Changelog

   move or filter the uploads folder get the right paths in the Media Library column
   and the media picker.
 * Fixed: capability checks no longer pass through translated text, so roles behave
   the same in every language.
 * Rewritten plugin description and readme.
 * Groundwork for the Pro add-on’s grouped duplicates and Studio tray. Nothing in
   the free plugin changes.

#### 1.0.0

 * First release.
 * Folders and nested folders.
 * Favorites.
 * Media workspace.
 * Media Library folder explorer.
 * Media picker folder column.
 * Desktop folder import.
 * File usage tracking.
 * Trash with usage confirmation.
 * Rename and replace files.
