Facebook Status – Email Updater

This plugin uses a post’s URL permalink or shortlink to post to Facebook, where a large variety of services can further share the post if needed.

If you want to find a good shortlink service, my advice is the getJetpack. It provides users of WordPress 3.0 with shortlinks, which will last as long as is around.

This plugin was originally inspired by FaceBook Status Updater via email

Instructions on how to use the plugin are included on the options page. If you need help, you can ask in the forums, or comment on the plugin’s home page.

NOTE: This doesn’t need to send an email to Facebook. It could technically be used to send an email to anyone or anything.

  1. Upload using the built-in uploader in the Plugins menu

  2. Activate the plugin through the “Plugins” menu in WordPress

  3. Find and enter your secret email on the “FB Email Updater” page under the “Settings” menu

  4. Check the boxes that describe when you want WordPress to send an update to Facebook.

  5. Select your preferred URL type, excerpt formatting, and how you want the email’s subject to look.

  6. Click “Save Changes”

Where can I find my secret email?

Those instructions are at the top of the plugin’s admin page.

What service will Facebook display when updating?

The post will say “## minutes ago via Email_upload”.
