## Description

Evosolve Content Review keeps the pages and posts you choose on a regular checking
schedule, so out-of-date content gets noticed instead of forgotten.

You pick which content types are tracked (pages and posts by default) and how often
each type should be checked. Every tracked item gets a due date from its schedule,
and optionally an owner who is responsible for it. The review queue shows what is
overdue, due soon, edited since its last check, never checked, or unassigned. From
the queue you can record a check with one click (“Still accurate”), push an item
back a week (“Snooze 1 week”), or open the full record page for a review with an
outcome and a note.

Other everyday touchpoints: a sidebar panel in the post editor with a “Mark reviewed”
action, a “Review” column on the posts list with sorting and a row action, a dashboard
widget with your overdue and due-soon items, an optional admin-bar count of overdue
items (off by default, shown only in the admin), and a weekly email digest that
sends each owner the items due in the next 7 days. Every review, schedule change,
assignment and note is written to an activity log, and both the queue and the log
export to CSV. An optional public “Last reviewed” line (shortcode, block, or automatic
insert, plus schema output) shows visitors when a page was last checked.

The plugin is made by AI Plugin Factory (https://aipluginfactory.com/). It is fully
functional with no account, licence key, or paid dependency.

### How it works / Getting started

 1. After activation, a short one-time setup asks what should be checked regularly (
yearly presets for pages, or pages and posts, or your own choice), which pages
matter most (common stale-prone topics such as pricing, terms, contact and opening
hours are pre-ticked as a suggestion), and who gets the reminders and on which
weekday. Finish applies the choices and opens the queue.
 2. Work the queue under Dashboard > My reviews (or AI Plugin Factory > Content Review
for administrators): use “Still accurate” and “Snooze 1 week” for quick items,
and the record page for full reviews with an outcome (No changes needed, Content
updated, Needs follow-up) and a note.
 3. In Settings, set the default check interval per content type, the weekly digest
day and hour, and whether to show the optional public “Last reviewed” line. Dates
    use the site timezone.

### Privacy

This plugin does not track you and makes no external requests: everything runs on
your own site. Review records (owner, schedule, review dates, reviewer, notes) and
the activity log are stored in your site database. Reminder emails go only to site
users who own due content, plus the optional fallback address you set (empty means
the site admin email). The public “Last reviewed” display is off by default; when
enabled it shows only the review date and, if you choose, the reviewer’s display
name.

## Blocks

This plugin provides 1 block.

 * Last reviewed Shows the last review date for this content.

## Installation

 1. Back up your site and test on staging.
 2. Upload the ZIP through Plugins > Add Plugin > Upload Plugin; activate it.
 3. Complete the one-time setup (or skip it and configure Settings later).
 4. Open the review queue and record your first review.

If you used the earlier private build “Content Review: Dates & Notes”, deactivate
that plugin first, then activate this one. Your records are kept and upgraded automatically.
Do not run both plugins at the same time.

Single-site WordPress only. Deactivation keeps all review data; uninstall deletes
the plugin tables and options (see FAQ).

## FAQ

### Does it change my content or its modified dates?

No. Recording a review only writes to the plugin’s own tables. Post content, `post_modified`,
and post meta of the reviewed content are never modified.

### How is this different from post revisions?

Revisions are automatic snapshots WordPress keeps when content is edited. This plugin
records a human decision: who checked the content, when, with what outcome and note,
and when it is due again. If the content is edited after a review, the queue flags
it and links to the WordPress revision comparison.

### How are due dates computed?

Each item has a check interval in months (its own setting, or the default for its
content type; 0 means no regular schedule). If no manual date is set, the due date
is the interval added to the last review date, or to the post’s last-modified date
when it was never reviewed (month ends are clamped, e.g. 31 January + 1 month =
28/29 February). A manual date on the record always overrides the computed date.
A “Needs follow-up” review without a chosen next date defaults to 7 days later.

### Is the admin-bar count required?

No. It is optional and off by default. Turn it on under Settings to show your overdue
count in the WordPress admin bar. It appears only inside the admin, never on the
public site, and only when you have overdue items.

### Who can see and do what?

Anyone with `edit_posts` can open the queue, but without `edit_others_posts` they
only see content they authored or own. Recording a review needs edit permission
for that post. Changing schedules, owners, and bulk actions needs broader edit rights.
Settings and log export are administrator-only (`manage_options`).

### Does it work with page builders?

The review fingerprint includes title, content, excerpt, status and Elementor data,
so Elementor edits are detected directly. Other builders store their output in post
content, so their changes are covered through the content check.

### What happens to my data when I upgrade from Content Review: Dates & Notes?

Your records are kept and migrated into the new tables, including the imported review
history. Deactivate the old plugin first and do not run both at the same time. Never
run the old plugin’s uninstaller against the shared data.

### Does the email digest need WP-Cron?

Yes. The weekly digest is sent by WordPress cron, so the site must receive visits
for the schedule to run. Settings shows the last run, what was sent, and the next
run; if the next run is more than 1 hour in the past you will see a “WP-Cron may
not be running” warning. Low-traffic sites should set up a real server cron calling`
wp-cron.php`. A “Send me a test digest” button checks delivery without waiting a
week.

### How do I remove all data?

Deactivation keeps everything. Deleting the plugin (uninstall) drops both plugin
tables, including any legacy table, and deletes all `aipluginfactory_cr_*` options
and the digest schedule. Export anything you need first; deleting a post also removes
its review record (the activity log rows are kept).
