## Description

ELIA Assistant connects your WordPress site to the ELIA Assistant platform, an AI
chatbot for customer support. Enter your widget ID and the chat shows your saved
widget settings automatically. The chat widget appears as a floating button on every
page, or you can embed it inline using the `[elia_assistant]` shortcode.

An ELIA Assistant account is required. The plugin itself only displays the widget;
conversations are handled by the ELIA Assistant service (see External Services below).

**Works with WooCommerce.** If your store runs on WooCommerce, the plugin creates
a read-only REST API key in one click. Enter it in the ELIA Assistant dashboard
and the assistant can answer questions about your products, prices and stock. The
key can only read data, never change anything in your store, and you can delete
it at any time.

Features:

 * Floating chat widget (window, mixed, or fullscreen mode)
 * Inline embedded widget via `[elia_assistant]` shortcode
 * Remote configuration: change appearance and behavior from the ELIA Assistant
   dashboard without touching WordPress
 * Built-in themes and avatar selection
 * CTA popup with configurable text and delay
 * Automatic language detection per page (WPML, Polylang, TranslatePress, Weglot,
   or the site language), with a manual override
 * On/off switch: hide the chat on your whole site without losing its settings
 * Test mode for staging sites: messages from them are marked as tests
 * WooCommerce integration: the assistant answers questions about your products,
   prices and stock, using a read-only key created in one click

### External Services

This plugin relies on the ELIA Assistant service, operated by ELIA, and loads the
chat widget code from a public CDN. No data is sent anywhere until you enter your
widget ID.

**ELIA Assistant API** (`api.elia-assistant.com`)
 Used to fetch your saved widget
configuration by its widget ID. The widget loader requests it in the visitor’s browser
on pages that show the widget. The settings screen also requests it from your WordPress
server each time it is opened, to preview the widget; only the widget ID is sent,
no data about your site visitors.

**ELIA Assistant widget loader** (`app.elia-assistant.com`)
 A small loader script
that selects the current widget version. It is loaded in the visitor’s browser on
every page that shows the widget, so the visitor’s IP address and browser details
reach this host, as with any web request.

**ELIA Assistant chat service** (`eliainfra.app.n8n.cloud`)
 When a visitor uses
the chat, the messages they type, and any contact details they choose to enter in
the conversation, are sent from their browser to the ELIA Assistant chat service
at `eliainfra.app.n8n.cloud`. This service is run by ELIA on n8n Cloud, operated
by n8n GmbH. ELIA processes the messages, including with AI models, to generate
replies, and stores the conversations so you can review them in the ELIA Assistant
dashboard.

**jsDelivr CDN** (`cdn.jsdelivr.net`)
 The loader fetches the chat widget JavaScript
bundle (the open-source `@elia-assistant/chatui` package) from jsDelivr. This request
is made in the visitor’s browser on pages that show the widget. Terms of use: https://

## Installation

 1. In WordPress, go to **Plugins > Add New**, search for “ELIA Assistant”, then install
    and activate it.
 2. Go to **Settings > ELIA Assistant** and follow the steps on the screen.
 3. Connect your chat widget: in the ELIA Assistant dashboard, open Configuration >
    Integrations, copy the widget ID from the WordPress card and paste it in.
 4. Choose where the chat appears and its language, and click **Save changes** in that
    block. The chat appears on your site right away.

To show the chat only on selected pages, choose **Only on pages I choose**. The
settings screen then gives you a shortcode to copy into a Shortcode block on those
pages:

    ```
    [elia_assistant]
    ```

Optional shortcode attribute:

 * `height` – container height, e.g. `500px`, `70vh` (default: `500px`)

Example:

    ```
    [elia_assistant height="400px"]
    ```

The colors always come from the widget settings in the ELIA Assistant dashboard.

## FAQ

### Where do I get my widget ID?

Log in to the ELIA Assistant dashboard, go to **Configuration > Integrations** and
open the **WordPress** card under Channels. Copy the widget ID shown there. It is
not a secret: the same ID is in the embed code of every site that shows the widget.

### The widget is not showing up.

Make sure your widget settings are saved in the ELIA Assistant dashboard and that
the widget ID is complete. If the plugin settings screen says the widget was not
found, log in to the ELIA Assistant dashboard, open **Configuration > Integrations
> WordPress**, copy the widget ID again, or click **Customize Chat Widget** and
press **Save** if the card asks for it.

### Does the chat follow the language of each page on a multilingual site?

Yes, with **Same as the page** selected. The plugin asks WPML, Polylang or Weglot
which language the page is in, and otherwise uses the WordPress language of the
page, which TranslatePress and most other language plugins set. With another setup,
a developer can name the language with the `elia_assistant_language` filter, which
receives and returns a two-letter code:

    ```
    add_filter( 'elia_assistant_language', function ( $lang ) { return 'de'; } );
    ```

Translators that work only in the visitor’s browser, such as Google Translate widgets,
are not detected. The assistant’s name and welcome message for each language are
set in the ELIA Assistant dashboard.

### Can I show the widget on specific pages only?

Yes. In **Settings > ELIA Assistant**, choose **Only on pages I choose**, copy the
shortcode shown there and paste it into a Shortcode block on the pages where you
want the chat.

### Is my WooCommerce API key sent to ELIA Assistant?

Not by the plugin. The plugin creates the key in your own store and shows it once
on the settings screen, so you can copy it and enter it in the ELIA Assistant dashboard
yourself. The plugin never transmits it. The key and secret are kept for at most
two minutes so the settings screen can show them; after that the plugin keeps only
the key ID and the last few characters, so it can show the status and delete the
key later. The key is created with Read permission only. You can delete it at any
time from the settings screen, or from WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced > REST
API.

### What happens to my data when I delete the plugin?

When you delete the plugin from the Plugins screen, it asks whether to keep its
settings. If you remove them, the plugin also deletes the WooCommerce key it generated.
If you keep them, they are used again when you reinstall the plugin. Deleting several
plugins at once removes the settings. Conversations already stored in ELIA Assistant
stay in your ELIA Assistant account.

   Assistant dashboard instead of an API key.
 * Settings link on the Plugins screen, and a dismissible reminder to enter your
   widget ID after activation.
 * Text domain changed to `elia-assistant` to match the WordPress.org plugin slug.
 * The Advanced settings field now accepts only a valid JSON object.

   them together with the generated WooCommerce key.
 * Admin script moved to the standard WordPress script queue.
 * Documentation of external services updated.
 * Czech translation added.

#### Earlier versions
