Ecreate Auto Slug Creator removes the words that add nothing, such as “ the”, “and” and “for”, and keeps the URL short and readable. Example: * Title: 10 Best and Easy Tomato Soup Recipes for the Winter Season * WordPress URL: /10-best-and-easy-tomato-soup-recipes-for-the-winter-season/ * With this plugin: /10-easy-tomato-soup-recipes-winter/ The plugin works for posts and WooCommerce products, and it can also clean up the URLs of content you published before you installed it. Old URLs keep working, because WordPress redirects them to the new ones. #### Features * Removes common English words from URLs. * Your own list of words to always remove, and words to always keep. * Keeps phrases together, so “how to” is kept or removed as a pair. * Option to remove numbers and years. * A maximum number of words per URL. * A URL is never left empty or meaningless, even when every word is a common word. * Cleans URLs of content that is already published, with a preview you approve first. * Old URLs are redirected to the new ones. * Works with the block editor, the classic editor, Quick Edit, scheduled posts and WooCommerce products. * Never changes a URL that was typed in by hand. * Settings are kept when the plugin is deactivated and removed only when it is deleted. #### Safe by default * Only new items are cleaned. URLs that are already published are never changed unless you ask for it. * A URL you typed in yourself is always left alone. * Nothing is changed in bulk until you have seen the list and selected the URLs. * Titles in scripts that WordPress cannot convert to Latin letters are left as they are. #### Need it for other post types? In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins > Add New Plugin and search for “Ecreate Auto Slug Creator”. 2. Click Install Now, then Activate. 3. Go to Slug Setting in the admin menu, or click the Settings link on the Plugins page. 4. Choose your settings and click Save Settings. New posts will now get clean URLs. To clean URLs you have already published, use the “Clean Existing URLs” section on the same page. To install manually, upload the plugin folder to the `/wp-content/plugins/` directory and activate the plugin from the Plugins page. ## FAQ ### Will this break my existing URLs? No. By default the plugin only cleans the URL of new items. If you choose to clean URLs that are already published, WordPress redirects each old URL to the new one, so visitors and links still reach your content. ### Can I choose the URL myself? Yes. If you type a URL in yourself, the plugin leaves it alone, and it is left out of the list when you clean existing URLs. ### Does it work with WooCommerce? Yes. Turn on Products in the settings and product URLs are cleaned in the same way, including products added through the WooCommerce REST API or an import. ### Does it work with custom post types? Not at the moment. The plugin supports posts and WooCommerce products. If WordPress cannot convert the title to Latin letters, the plugin does not change the URL. The built-in word list is English, and you can add your own words to remove in any language WordPress can convert. ### Does it change URLs when I edit a title later? Not by default. You can turn that on in the settings, and old URLs are redirected, but leaving it off is safer. ### Are my settings removed when I deactivate the plugin? No. Settings are kept when the plugin is deactivated.
