Installation

Simple installation

The CrowdHandler plugin is available to install via the WordPress plugin directory.

Manual installation

  1. Download the CrowdHandler plugin as a zip file
  2. Unzip crowdhandler-wordpress.zip
  3. Upload the crowdhandler-wordpress folder to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory
  4. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress

Configuration

After installation, you need to configure the plugin:

  1. Go to https://www.crowdhandler.com/sign-up to create a CrowdHandler account.
  2. Log into your account at admin.crowdhandler.com
  3. Work through the onboarding guide to set up your waiting room.
  4. Select ‘WordPress’ as your implementation at the end and follow the instructions to connect to your plugin.
  5. Note you do not need to install the CrowdHandler JavaScript when using the WordPress plugin

Optional settings:

  • Override index.php: activating this option allows CrowdHandler to run in place of your WordPress website’s default homepage. If you do not wish to do this, then your own server will take the load for all traffic to the homepage. For periods of very high demand, this may not be ideal.

What do you like best about CrowdHandler? We use Wordpress so was very easy to implement. The room was easy to configure as we were keeping things simple. What do you dislike about CrowdHandler? Cant find any negatives , all smooth sailing so far ! And as we say in Scouting , no kinks in our knots! I would say though to remember to switch your room on ! What problems is CrowdHandler solving and how is that benefiting you? We are a medium sized Scouting Group – we rely soley on our website for incoming membership , events payment and more. We recently decided to sell event tickets online for our fundraisers. This proved a little too popular and our hosting , whilst its normally great – was stretched. I setup CrowdHandler and thankfully i could keep everyone happy including our Customers and Management !Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

This plugin requires a Credit Card on signup, which most European’s don’t even own, and those that do hardly use. In contact with support they offer no alternative payment method. So I can’t even sign up.
