AI search engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Claude use crawlers to discover and index web content. By using this plugin, you agree that data may be transmitted to these services under the conditions described below. #### WPRankLab (wpranklab.com) This plugin communicates with wpranklab.com for two distinct purposes: **1. Site Registration** **When it is used:** During the Setup Wizard, only if you explicitly tick the consent checkbox. No data is sent without your consent. **What is sent:** Site URL, site name, business name, organisation type. **Why:** To register your site with the WPRankLab service and obtain a site token required for AI-powered features. **2. AI Proxy (Pro features)** **When it is used:** When a Pro AI-powered feature is triggered (AI Summary generation, Q&A block generation, entity extraction, or missing topics analysis). All AI requests are routed through the WPRankLab AI proxy, which calls OpenAI on your behalf using WPRankLab’s API key. Your own OpenAI key is not required and is not used for these calls. **What is sent:** Your site token (obtained during registration), your site URL, and the title and content of the WordPress post being analysed. **Why:** To generate AI-written summaries, Q&A blocks, and entity analysis for your content via OpenAI, without requiring you to supply your own OpenAI credentials. **Service URL:** https://wpranklab.com **Privacy Policy:** https://wpranklab.com/ privacy-policy/ #### OpenAI (api.openai.com) **When it is used:** OpenAI is called indirectly via the WPRankLab AI proxy described above. Your WordPress server does not make direct calls to api.openai.com. Upload the `crawlgator-ai-lab` folder to the `/wp-content/plugins/` directory, or install directly through the WordPress plugin screen. 2. Activate the plugin through the **Plugins** screen in WordPress. 3. Go to **CrawlGator AI Lab > Setup Wizard** to complete initial configuration. 4. (Optional) Complete the Setup Wizard consent step to enable AI-powered analysis features (Pro). AI requests are processed via the WPRankLab proxy — no OpenAI API key is required on your end. 5. Visit **CrawlGator AI Lab > Dashboard** to view your AI Visibility Score. ## FAQ ### Does CrawlGator AI Lab require an OpenAI API key? No. The core AI crawler detection and visibility scoring features work without any API key. Pro AI-powered features (content summaries, Q&A blocks, entity analysis) are processed via the WPRankLab AI proxy — you do not need to supply your own OpenAI credentials. ### What data does CrawlGator AI Lab send externally? CrawlGator AI Lab communicates with wpranklab.com for two purposes: site registration( only with your explicit consent during setup), and AI feature requests (post title and content are sent to the WPRankLab AI proxy, which forwards them to OpenAI). CrawlGator AI Lab does not sell or share your data with advertisers or unrelated third parties. ### Does the free version expire?
