## Description
Consenta is a cookie consent service for websites. This is the official WordPress
plugin. It adds the Consenta script tag to the head of every public page of your
site, before Google tags such as gtag.js and Google Tag Manager, which is the order
Google Consent Mode v2 requires.
The plugin does one thing:
* You enter the API key from your Consenta dashboard under Settings > Consenta.
* The plugin prints `` in the head of every public page.
Everything else (banner design, languages, consent logging, statistics) is configured
in your Consenta dashboard at app.consenta.se, not in WordPress.
#### External service
This plugin relies on Consenta, a third party service operated by Rolling Thunder
Sweden AB, Sweden. A Consenta account is required. You can create one at https://
app.consenta.se/register (a free plan is available).
When a valid API key is saved, every public page of your site loads the script `
https://cdn.consenta.se/snippet.js?key=YOUR-KEY` in the visitor’s browser. The script
shows the cookie banner, records the visitor’s consent choice with the Consenta
API at api.consenta.se, and signals the choice to Google tags through Consent Mode
v2. Consenta processes the visitor’s consent choice, the page address and the API
key that identifies your site. Only the visitor’s browser communicates with Consenta.
The WordPress server itself never contacts Consenta, and the plugin does not collect
or send any data from your WordPress installation.

## Installation
1. In WordPress, go to Plugins > Add New and search for “Consenta.se”. Install and
activate the plugin “Consenta.se – Svenskt Cookie Consent”.
2. Go to Settings > Consenta.
3. Paste the API key from your Consenta dashboard (app.consenta.se) and save.
4. Open your site in a private browser window. The cookie banner should appear.
If you previously added the Consenta script tag by hand (in a theme file or with
another plugin), remove it so the script is not loaded twice.
## FAQ
### Where do I find my API key?
Log in at https://app.consenta.se and copy the key shown for your site. It is a
36 character UUID.
### Does the plugin work without a Consenta account?
No. The plugin only prints the script tag. The banner itself is delivered by the
Consenta service and requires an account.
### Does the plugin send any data from my WordPress site to Consenta?
No. The plugin never contacts Consenta from the server. Only the visitor’s browser
loads the script and records the consent choice.
### Where in the page is the script placed?
In the head, at wp_head priority 1, so it runs before Google tags added by themes
or other plugins.
### What happens when I delete the plugin?
The saved API key is removed from the WordPress database. Nothing else is stored.
