## Description

Cloudy AI Chatbot adds a chat window to your site that answers visitor questions
from a knowledge base you write. Your questions and answers are stored in your own
WordPress database, and the chat is answered by the plugin itself on your server.
Add as many entries as you like.

Each question is compared with your entries. When one clearly fits, your answer
is sent word for word. When none fits well enough, the chat says it does not have
complete information and offers your contact form and email, so it never guesses.

AI is used for AI based reports that provide you details every month automatically.

**_Add minimum of 15–20 knowledge base entries covering your business, products,
services, pricing, FAQs and common customer questions. This helps your AI chatbot
provide more accurate, relevant and consistent answers to visitors._**

**What you get**

 * A setup wizard that has the assistant answering in about ten minutes
 * Questions and answers written in your own words, added one at a time or imported
from a CSV file, with the other words visitors might use
 * A tester that shows the reply a question gets and the entries closest to it,
with a Teach button to link a visitor’s wording to the right entry
 * Once enabled you can benefit from monthly AI based reports.
 * 40 animated mascots, a set of emoji avatars, or your own image or logo, in 21
   colour schemes
 * Light and dark chat window, following the visitor’s device or set by you
 * Launcher styles, an attention bubble, notification sounds and auto-open
 * Replies typed out on screen or shown at once, and optional voice input
 * Home screen cards, a scrolling announcement strip and promotions
 * A contact form inside the chat, or another form plugin’s form shown there instead.
Enquiries are saved in your database and emailed to you
 * Analytics for the last 7, 30 or 90 days: chats, messages, questions asked and
how each was answered, forms sent and forms left unfinished
 * An optional monthly report, written for you, with the questions worth adding
   next (see External services)
 * A performance page that measures whether the chatbot slows your site down
 * Export and import your whole setup as one file

**Where your data is kept**

The knowledge base, the chat conversations, enquiries and analytics are stored in
tables in your own WordPress database. Conversations are kept for 90 days. Visitors
can clear their own conversation from the chat window.

**Source code**

The chat window is built with React. Its readable source is in the `chat` folder
of this plugin, and `npm install` then `npm run build` in that folder rebuilds the
files in `public/chat`.

**Third-party code**

 * SweetAlert2 11.26.25 (MIT licence, https://github.com/sweetalert2/sweetalert2)
for confirmation dialogs in the admin. The readable source is included next to
   the minified file in assets/js.
 * React 18.3.1 and React DOM 18.3.1 (MIT licence, https://react.dev) and Lucide
icons 0.562.0 (ISC licence, https://lucide.dev), bundled into the chat window.

**Third-party data**

 * The related-words table in `includes/related` lists, for common English words,
the words closest in meaning. It was derived from GloVe 6B word vectors (Jeffrey
Pennington, Richard Socher and Christopher D. Manning, 2014, https://nlp.stanford.
edu/projects/glove/), released under the Open Data Commons Public Domain Dedication
and License v1.0. Only the word lists are included, no vectors.

### External services

The chat works without any outside service. The plugin contacts one service
 only
if you turn on the monthly report under Analytics, Monthly report, or press the “
Test” button under Settings, Account, Advanced.

**CloudyWP report service**

The monthly report’s written summary and its suggestions of questions to add
 are
written by the CloudyWP report service. Apart from the “Test” button described below,
nothing is sent until you tick the box to agree and turn the report on, and you
can turn it off at any time.

 * When you turn the report on, your site name, domain and the email address
    you
enter are sent so the service can set up an account for this site. If the domain
already has one, the service checks that you control it: your site creates a
one-time token, sends it, and the service asks your site’s REST API (/wp-json/
cloudywp-ai/v1/claim-token) to confirm it. The endpoint exists only during that
check, only confirms a token the caller already holds, and the token expires
   within two minutes.
 * Once a month, and when you press “Write this report now”, the month’s totals
   (
questions asked, how many were answered, enquiries, chats opened, entries in
your knowledge base) and the text of the questions visitors asked, most asked
and unanswered, are sent with the site’s secret key. Email addresses and phone
numbers in those questions are removed before sending. The service writes the
summary and does not store what was sent.
 * The “Test” button under Settings, Account, Advanced checks that the service

can be reached, even with the report off. It sends a plain request with no site
data in it; like any WordPress request, it carries the default WordPress user
agent, which includes your site’s address.

The service is operated by CloudyWP at `https://cbb.cloudywp.online`.

## Installation

 1. Install and activate the plugin.
 2. Open **Cloudy AI Chatbot** in the admin menu. The setup wizard walks you through
your business details, the assistant’s look and your first answers.
 3. Write the questions your visitors ask, with your answers.
 4. Choose who sees the chatbot. New installs start in admin-only preview.
 5. AI reporting can be enabled from Settings -> Analytics -> Monthly report.

## FAQ

### Where are my questions and answers stored?

In your own WordPress database, in the plugin’s own tables. Nothing is sent
 anywhere
to answer a visitor.

### Does the plugin store anything about me as an admin?

Yes, a few small per-user settings: your light or dark admin choice, your
 unfinished
setup wizard answers, and a flag saved when you close the knowledge base reminder,
which keeps it closed for the current login session. They are removed when the plugin
is deleted.

### How does it decide whether to answer?

It compares the visitor’s words with each entry, including the other words you

list for it, and works out how sure it is that an entry is the right one. It answers
only when it is sure. Otherwise it says it does not have complete information and
offers your contact form and email.

### A question should have been answered but was not. What can I do?

Open Knowledge, Test answers, type the question and press Teach next to the
 right
entry. You can also add the words visitors use under “Other words visitors use”
on any entry. The Home screen and Analytics list the questions that were not answered.

### Does it read my site content automatically?

No. It answers only from the questions and answers you write, so you stay in
 control
of every reply.

### Is the widget visible while I set it up?

Only to administrators, until you choose to show it to everyone.

### Are conversations stored?

Yes, in your own database, for 90 days, so you can see what visitors ask.
 Visitors
can clear their own conversation from the chat window.

### What happens to my data when I delete the plugin?

Deleting the plugin removes its settings and tables, including your questions
 and
answers. Export them first under Settings, Account if you want to keep them.

### Does it slow my site down?

The chatbot loads one small script while the page loads and fetches everything

else after the page has finished loading. The chat window itself loads only when
it is opened. The Performance page measures this on your own site.

## Changelog

#### 1.2.2

 * Plugin file and address locations now come from the WordPress location functions,
so the plugin works with custom content and plugin folders.

#### 1.2.1

 * New reminder in the setup wizard and the Knowledge screens while you have fewer
than 15 questions and answers. It is advice only, and you can close it for the
   current login session.
 * The setup wizard asks you to confirm before continuing with no answers, and lets
you upload a CSV on that step.
 * Output is now escaped throughout the admin screens.

#### 1.2.0

 * Your questions and answers, conversations and enquiries are now stored in your
   own WordPress database.
 * The chat is answered by the plugin itself, with no outside service, and only
when it is sure of the answer.
 * Add as many questions and answers as you like, with the other words visitors
   might use.
 * The chat window is now part of the plugin, with its source in the chat folder.
 * Everyday questions such as opening hours, contact details, location, parking,
payment and bookings are recognised however they are worded.
 * When the chat is not sure, it offers the closest questions as “Did you mean”
choices, next to the contact form.
 * Test answers shows the reply a question gets, with a Teach button.
 * Enquiries are emailed to you.
 * New optional monthly report under Analytics.
 * Setup no longer needs an account.

#### 1.1.1

 * Choose your own image or logo as the avatar, and a separate logo for the open
   chat window.
 * New setting to type replies out on screen or show them at once.
 * Analytics keep 90 days, with a choice of the last 7, 30 or 90 days.
 * Admin scripts load from files with wp_enqueue_script.
 * SweetAlert2 updated to 11.26.25.

   and Settings.
 * New Home screen with a setup checklist, this week’s numbers, questions that need
an answer and the latest enquiries.
 * Settings shows every option plainly, with no folding panels. The service address
   moved to Account, under Advanced.
 * Old admin links still work and lead to the new place.

#### 1.0.5

 * Chat settings changed by add-ons reach visitors straight away instead of after
   a few minutes.

#### 1.0.4

 * The service address test shows its last result.

#### 1.0.3

 * Analytics now say what the assistant did with each question: answered from
    your
knowledge base, written by the assistant, or gave the visitor your contact details.
Nothing is labelled “not answered” when the visitor got a reply.

#### 1.0.2

 * Setting up a site that already has an assistant now reconnects to it,
    keeping
everything it has learned, instead of stopping with an error.
 * Clearer message when a website address already has an assistant.
 * Test sites on local addresses such as localhost can each be set up
    separately.

#### 1.0.1

 * Import questions and answers from a CSV file, from the Knowledge Base or
    Import/
Export screen. Commas, semicolons or tabs work, and a header row is optional.
 * Imports say how many rows were added.

#### 1.0.0

 * First public release.
 * A chat window that answers visitors from the questions and answers you
    write,
and says plainly when it does not know instead of guessing.
 * Understands prices, lists of options, urgent requests, locations and
    service
   areas from your own answers.
 * Hands visitors to your email and a contact form when there is no answer.
 * A setup wizard: business, assistant, your answers, go live.
 * Animated mascots and emoji avatars, colour schemes, light and dark.
 * Analytics for the last 7 days, including every question visitors asked and
    how
well your knowledge base matched it.
 * Uninstalling removes the plugin’s settings, analytics table and scheduled
    tasks.
