They can only cite what they can read and understand – and most pages are missing the machine-facing signals that make that possible. **Start with a free scan – no account needed.** Open **Settings > CheckAEO** and click **Analyze & Fix** to check how AI answer engines actually see your site (nothing is sent anywhere until you click): * Whether AI crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot) are blocked in your robots. txt * Whether your site returns a block or challenge to AI crawler user-agents * Whether your content is visible without JavaScript (most AI crawlers don’t run JS) * Whether you have an llms.txt file – and if not, **add one in a single free click**( no account needed). CheckAEO serves a generated llms.txt at /llms.txt built from your own site name, tagline, and pages – nothing invented, and fully reversible. Then, for each page, CheckAEO finds the structured-data and metadata gaps and lets you apply the fixes in one click: * **Schema markup** (WebPage/Article, BreadcrumbList) – so engines can identify what your page is * **Meta description** – a ready-made summary for engines to quote * **OpenGraph tags** – a clean title, description, and image for previews and AI Everything the plugin adds is **invisible to your visitors** (it goes in the page` `) and **fully reversible** – fixes are stored as post metadata and injected at render, so deactivating the plugin removes them cleanly. The plugin never rewrites your content. **No executable code, ever.** The only markup CheckAEO writes is validated JSON- LD structured data and escaped meta tags, reduced to a strict allowlist before output. It never injects scripts, PHP, or arbitrary HTML, and it is not a code editor. Structured data and meta tags are read by answer engines, not executed by browsers. Anything the API returns that is not valid JSON-LD or an allowlisted meta tag is discarded. **Only fills gaps.** CheckAEO analyzes the live rendered page, so anything your theme or SEO plugin (Yoast, Rank Math) already outputs is detected and skipped – no duplicate markup. The plugin is a thin actuator; the AEO analysis runs on the CheckAEO service. Scanning and applying fixes are free and need no account. Connecting a free CheckAEO account is optional – it links this site so you can track its AEO score over time on checkaeo. ai. ### External services This plugin connects to the CheckAEO service (checkaeo.ai) to analyze your pages and return the fixes. Scanning and applying fixes work without an account; connecting a free account is optional and links this site for score tracking. When you click “Analyze & Fix”, the plugin sends that page’s rendered HTML (or, as a fallback, its public URL) to the CheckAEO API at https://checkaeo.ai – plus your site’s connection key once you have connected. For the homepage scan it also asks the API to check your site’s robots.txt, llms.txt, and how your homepage responds to an AI crawler user-agent. The API analyzes the page and returns the machine-facing gap fixes and findings. No page content is stored beyond what is needed to generate and return those results. Connecting your site during setup links it to your CheckAEO account. This service is provided by CheckAEO.
