The bot answers visitors around the clock using your own content, captures leads, and hands the conversation to a person on your team when it needs to. **This plugin is a client for a hosted service.** The chat bot itself runs on Chatrico’s servers, not on your site. You need a Chatrico.com account to use it, and a free plan is available. See the “External services” section below for exactly what data is sent and when. **What the plugin does** * Loads the Chatrico chat widget on your site once you save an Agent ID and switch it on. * Lets you choose which of your AI agents answers on this site. * Optionally hides the widget from logged-in administrators while you test. * Shows your plan, this month’s usage totals and your agent list inside wp-admin, if you link your account. * Links through to your inbox, tickets and dashboard on Chatrico. Widget appearance (colour, position, size and theme) is set in Agent Settings on Chatrico and applied automatically, so you never have to re-paste embed code. ### External services This plugin connects to the Chatrico chat service, operated by Chatrico at https:// chatrico.com. The plugin cannot work without it, because the AI chat bot, the conversation history and your account data all live on that service. **1. Account data in wp-admin** If you paste a Connection Key on the plugin’s Settings screen, the plugin sends that key to `https://chatrico.com/api/plugin/me` to read your account name and email, your plan, your usage totals and your list of AI agents. * Data sent: your Connection Key. * When: when you save the key, and at most once every five minutes while you are viewing the plugin’s own admin screens. * This is optional. Skip it and the plugin still shows the widget. **2. Chat widget on the front end** If you tick “Show widget”, the plugin loads the widget script from `https://chatrico. com/widget/embed.js` on your public pages and passes it your Agent ID. From that point the script talks to `https://chatrico.com/api` directly. * Data sent: your Agent ID, the messages a visitor types, anything a visitor enters into the chat such as a name or email address, and the technical request data any web request includes, for example IP address and user agent. * When: on page views where the widget is enabled, and while a visitor is chatting. * Nothing is sent while “Show widget” is off. Because visitor data is involved, review these documents before you switch the widget on, and reflect the widget in your own site’s privacy policy: * Terms of service: https://chatrico.com/terms * Privacy policy: https://chatrico.com/privacy ## Installation 1. Install the plugin through Plugins, Add New, Upload, or copy the folder into `/ wp-content/plugins/`. 2. Activate it. Nothing is sent anywhere yet. 3. Go to **Chatrico, Settings** and enter the Agent ID of the agent you want on this site. You can find it on your agents page at chatrico.com. 4. Tick **Show widget** and save. The widget is now live on your public pages. 5. Optional: paste a Connection Key from your Chatrico dashboard to also see your plan, usage and agent list inside WordPress. ## FAQ ### Do I need a Chatrico account? Yes. The chat bot is a hosted service. Create an account at https://chatrico.com; a free plan is available. ### Does anything get sent before I finish setting up? No. Activating the plugin sends nothing. The widget only loads after you save an Agent ID and tick “Show widget”, and account data is only read after you paste a Connection Key. ### Does the plugin ask for my Chatrico password? No. Linking uses a Connection Key that you generate in your Chatrico dashboard and can revoke at any time. ### Is this live chat or an AI chat bot? Both. The AI answers automatically and you can take over the conversation from your Chatrico inbox. ### Will it slow down my site? The widget script is loaded with the `defer` attribute through the standard WordPress script queue, so it does not block page rendering. ### How do I change the widget colour or position? In Agent Settings on chatrico.com. Changes apply automatically, with no edits needed here. ### How do I stop the widget completely? Untick “Show widget” on the plugin’s Settings screen, or deactivate the plugin. Either one stops all front-end requests to the service. ### What happens when I delete the plugin?
