## Description

Chataptor Live Chat connects your WordPress website with Chataptor — a customer
communication platform for live chat, omnichannel messaging and multilingual customer
support.

Chataptor lets businesses talk to website visitors in real time, manage customer
conversations from multiple supported channels in one inbox, respond from desktop
or mobile devices, use prepared replies, and communicate across languages using
AI-powered translations.

You can use Chataptor simply as a live chat widget for your WordPress website or
as part of a broader customer communication workflow.

Chataptor can be used for:

 * Live chat on your website.
 * Managing customer conversations from one place.
 * Connecting multiple supported communication channels to a shared inbox.
 * Supporting customers from desktop and mobile devices.
 * Using ready-made replies for frequently repeated questions.
 * Communicating with international customers using AI-powered message translations.
 * Managing conversations from multiple websites, markets or language versions.

#### AI-powered translations

Chataptor can help teams communicate with customers even when both sides use different
languages.

A customer can write in their own language while the agent reads and replies in
the language they work with. Chataptor handles the translation between both sides
of the conversation.

This can be especially useful for online stores, service businesses, exporters and
companies serving customers across multiple countries.

#### Omnichannel customer communication

Website live chat does not have to operate as a separate inbox.

Chataptor can bring conversations from supported communication channels into one
shared workspace, helping teams manage customer communication without constantly
switching between different applications.

This allows website chat to become part of a broader communication process while
keeping the conversation history and customer context easier to manage.

#### What does this WordPress plugin do?

The Chataptor Live Chat plugin provides a simple and secure way to add the Chataptor
website chat widget to WordPress.

The plugin does not recreate the Chataptor platform inside the WordPress administration
panel.

Chat conversations, channels, translations, operators, widget settings and other
Chataptor functionality are managed through your Chataptor account.

The WordPress plugin is responsible for safely loading the Chataptor widget configuration
on your website.

The guided setup helps an administrator:

 1. Create or sign in to a Chataptor account.
 2. Add the WordPress website in Chataptor under Channels and Page Widget.
 3. Open Widget installation.
 4. Copy the widget code generated specifically for that website.
 5. Paste the code into the WordPress plugin.
 6. Enable live chat and test it on the public website.

Once configured, the plugin loads the Chataptor widget through the standard WordPress
front-end script system near the end of the page, before the closing body tag.

This keeps the WordPress integration lightweight while conversations and customer
communication continue to be handled by the Chataptor service.

#### Safe widget-code handling

The plugin does not store or execute arbitrary JavaScript pasted into its settings.

Instead, it:

 * Validates the supplied Chataptor widget code.
 * Verifies the supported Chataptor script source.
 * Extracts approved and sanitized `data-*` configuration values.
 * Checks the required website credentials.
 * Rebuilds the script tag itself.

Only supported Chataptor widget configuration is stored and loaded.

This allows administrators to use the widget code generated by Chataptor without
turning the plugin settings into a general-purpose JavaScript injection field.

#### Use Chataptor as a simple live chat or as a broader communication platform

You do not need to build a complex customer support setup to use Chataptor.

A business can start by using Chataptor simply as a live chat widget on its WordPress
website.

Visitors can open the chat directly on the website and start a conversation with
the business without leaving the page.

As communication grows, the same Chataptor workspace can also be used to organize
conversations across additional supported channels, work with multiple team members,
respond from mobile devices, use prepared replies and communicate with customers
in different languages.

This makes the WordPress plugin useful both for websites that only need a straightforward
live chat and for businesses that want website chat to become part of a wider customer
communication process.

#### Works with WooCommerce

Chataptor Live Chat also works with WooCommerce.

Because the widget is loaded through the standard WordPress front-end system, it
can appear on WooCommerce pages such as:

 * Product pages.
 * Product categories.
 * Cart pages.
 * Checkout pages.
 * Other public store pages.

This allows visitors to start a conversation while browsing products, comparing
an offer or moving through the shopping process.

The live chat itself is configured and managed through Chataptor in the same way
as on any other WordPress website.

#### External service disclosure

This plugin relies on the external Chataptor service to provide live chat.

An account at https://chataptor.com/ is required.

When the integration is enabled, visitors’ browsers download the widget script from
an official Chataptor server.

Chataptor may receive and process technical data such as:

 * The visitor’s IP address.
 * Browser and device information.
 * Pages visited.
 * Information submitted by the visitor through the chat.

The exact processing depends on the Chataptor service and the website owner’s configuration.

Website owners are responsible for providing appropriate privacy information and,
where required, managing consent before loading the widget.

The plugin adds suggested Chataptor disclosure text to the WordPress Privacy Policy
Guide and provides the `chataptor_live_chat_should_load` filter for consent or conditional-
loading integrations.

## FAQ

### Do I need a Chataptor account?

Yes.

The WordPress plugin loads the Chataptor live chat widget, while conversations,
operators, channels, translations and widget settings are managed through the external
Chataptor service.

Registration is available at:

https://chataptor.com/register

### Can I use Chataptor only as a live chat?

Yes.

You can use Chataptor simply as a live chat widget for your WordPress website.

You do not need to configure additional communication channels or more advanced
workflows.

If your communication needs grow, the same Chataptor workspace can also support
additional supported channels, team workflows, mobile access and multilingual conversations.

### Does the plugin accept arbitrary JavaScript?

No.

The plugin accepts supported Chataptor widget code, validates the script source,
extracts approved configuration values and rebuilds the script tag itself.

Arbitrary pasted JavaScript is not stored or executed.

### What widget information is stored in WordPress?

The plugin stores only approved Chataptor widget configuration extracted from the
supplied widget code.

The plugin does not save arbitrary JavaScript pasted into the settings field.

### Where is the widget loaded?

The widget script is loaded through the standard WordPress front-end script system
in the footer, near the end of the page before the closing body tag.

Your WordPress theme must use the standard `wp_footer()` function.

### Can I temporarily disable live chat?

Yes.

Use the “Disable live chat” option in the Chataptor plugin settings and confirm
the action.

Your saved widget configuration remains available, so the live chat can be enabled
again later without reconnecting the website.

### Does Chataptor Live Chat work with WooCommerce?

Yes.

Because the widget is loaded through the standard WordPress front-end system, the
integration also applies to WooCommerce pages.

The widget can therefore appear on product pages, category pages, cart pages, checkout
pages and other public store pages.

### Is the live chat managed inside WordPress?

No.

WordPress is used to load the Chataptor widget on the website.

Conversations, operators, channels, translations and widget configuration are managed
through the Chataptor platform.

### Can Chataptor translate customer messages?

Chataptor supports AI-powered message translations as part of the external Chataptor
service.

This allows customers and agents to communicate even when they use different languages.

Translation configuration and functionality are managed through Chataptor, not through
the WordPress plugin itself.

### Does Chataptor support multiple communication channels?

Chataptor can connect supported customer communication channels to a shared inbox.

The WordPress plugin itself is responsible only for loading the website live chat
widget.

Additional channels are configured through the Chataptor platform.

### Can I use Chataptor on more than one website?

Chataptor can be used with multiple websites depending on the configuration of your
Chataptor account.

Each website should use the widget configuration generated for that website.

### Does the plugin slow down WordPress?

The plugin itself is lightweight and primarily handles widget configuration and
loading.

The live chat interface and communication functionality are provided by the external
Chataptor widget and service.

### Does the plugin load Chataptor in the WordPress admin area?

No.

The public-facing widget is intended for the front end of the website.

The WordPress administration area is used only to configure the integration.

### What happens when nobody is available to answer?

The behavior of the live chat, availability and message handling depends on the
configuration of the Chataptor service.

These settings are managed through your Chataptor account.

### How can a consent plugin control widget loading?

Developers can use the `chataptor_live_chat_should_load` filter and return `false`
until the required consent has been obtained.

Example:

    ```
    add_filter( 'chataptor_live_chat_should_load', '__return_false' );
    ```

The exact implementation depends on the consent-management plugin or custom consent
mechanism used by the website.

### How do I test whether the integration works?

After saving the widget configuration:

 1. Open the public website in a private or incognito browser window.
 2. Confirm that the Chataptor widget appears.
 3. Send a test message.
 4. Open Chataptor and verify that the conversation was received.
 5. Send a reply from Chataptor.
 6. Confirm that the reply appears in the website chat.

It is also recommended to test the widget on a mobile device.
