CF7 to Spreadsheet

Description

This plugin connects your Contact Form 7 and Google Spreadsheet.

When a visitor submits his/her data on your website via a Contact Form 7 form, on form submission, such data are added into Google Spreadsheet.

This is a simple way to maintain your contact form 7 data backup.

How to Use this Plugin

In Google Spreadsheet

  • Log into your Google Account and visit Google Spreadsheet.
  • Create a new Sheet and name it.
  • Rename the tab on which you want to capture the data.
  • In the Google sheets tab, provide column names in row 1. The first column should be “date” if you want to add date. For each further column, copy paste mail tags from the Contact Form 7 form (e.g. “your-name”, “your-email”, “your-subject”, “your-message”, etc). Also, you can add required mail tags (e.g “your-name”, “your-email”).

  • Process to generate API key

  • Follow the steps from this url to create a project: https://docs.brainstormforce.com/create-google-sheet-api-key/

  • After the project is created, go to Quotas tab, click on “Google sheet Api” and then on Credentials
  • Press Create Credentials
  • Select OAuth client ID
  • Select Other, give it a name and Save
  • You’ll get a popup with client Id and client secret
  • Copy/paste those on lines 13 and 14 (see above)
  • You need to Reconnect the plugin – go to Wp Admin/Settings/CF7 to Spreadsheet/Press “Reconnect with google Spreadsheet

In WordPress Admin

  • Create or Edit the Contact Form 7 form from which you want to capture the data. Set up the form as usual in the Form and Mail etc tabs. Thereafter, go to the new “CF7 to Spreadsheet” tab.
  • On the “CF7 to Spreadsheet” tab, copy-paste the Google Spreadsheets sheet name and tab name into respective positions, and hit “Save”.

Important Notes

  • You must pay very careful attention to your naming. This plugin will have unpredictable results if names and spellings do not match between your Google Spreadsheets and form settings. Also, naming is not case sensitive.

Installation

  1. Upload contact-form-to-excel-addon to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory and Install`.
  2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ screen in WordPress.
  3. Use the Admin Panel > Setting > CF7 To spreadsheet screen to connect to Google Sheets Account by entering the Access Code. You can get the Access Code by clicking the “Get Code” button.
  4. Use the Admin Panel > Contact form 7 > Select Contact form > On editor window tab - CF7 To spreadsheet Add your Sheet Name And Tab Name.

This plugin is dead now.

No one is here to update the plugin. It is not opening any link to get connect with your google sheet account in Gmail. I have checked that last update was made 2 years before.

Works Great

Works well. Really well. ONE point of note, that it did not like my customs fields, so just generate them in CF7 and leave them alone, making sure that CF7 does not duplicate the field types. That is, "text-124" works where "your_city" does not; at least didn't on my first go around. GREAT solution. Thank you so much for this!

I created this wordpress.org account just to give this app a review. I use reviews a LOT and so an app having no reviews is a handicap for me. I wanted to let people who are looking for this kind of solution know that this is worth a try. I was going to try to find a whole new app that would take the info submitted through a form and insert it into a spreadsheet rather than randomly email it to me. In my search I came across this. This was better for me, because I had already built my forms in Contact Form 7, which is an easy plugin that's free. I had some trouble at first with it populating the answers to checkbox input, but that resolved, and it seems like it just needed some time to propagate, because I didn't really change anything when they started working. If the "mail" portion of the form set up isn't right, it won't get the info in the google spreadsheet. At least from my experience. And though this app isn't case sensitive (as far as column titles) the mail set up is. Hope this helps!
