You review and edit the result before publishing it at /llms.txt. #### How it differs * Content-based: the free Cephei service crawls your public pages and writes the llms.txt from their content, instead of only listing posts from the WordPress database. * Written for AI readers: an English site summary, sections and link descriptions, also for websites in other languages. * Verified links: every link in the result must match a URL found during the crawl. Invalid, truncated or incomplete results are rejected instead of shown. * No AI setup: no API key, account or subscription. Generation runs on Cephei-operated infrastructure in Germany without external AI providers. * You stay in control: nothing is published until an administrator has reviewed the text and clicked Publish. #### How it works The plugin adds a page under Settings > llms.txt Generator. It automatically uses this WordPress website’s public home URL. There is no URL input field. 1. Click Generate llms.txt. 2. Wait for the public website crawl and AI generation to finish. 3. Review and edit the generated English text. Service comments are removed. 4. Click Publish to make the text available at /llms.txt. Generating and editing do not change the published version. Failed or cancelled generation keeps the previous editor contents and publication. Empty content cannot be published. Only users with the manage_options capability can manage the publication. The public file can be read without logging in. The plugin stores the published text in the WordPress database and serves it as text/plain; charset=utf-8 at the domain-root /llms.txt. No FTP access or writable file in the document root is required. The URL is checked before publishing and the public content is checked afterwards. WordPress must receive requests for this path, usually through the site’s existing pretty-permalink routing. The interface is translation-ready and follows your WordPress user language when a matching language pack is installed. The service generates English ASCII text regardless of the website language. You can edit the result, including adding UTF- 8 characters. Maximum publication size: 1 MiB. The plugin and service are free to use, with no registration, paid upgrade, subscription or license key. Cephei AG provides the tool to introduce its work. Company information is confined to this plugin’s settings page. No promotional links or credits are automatically added to your public website or llms.txt. llms.txt is an emerging proposal, not a guarantee of inclusion, ranking, citation or use by any AI system. Review generated content before publishing. ### External service This plugin relies on the public Cephei llms.txt generator at https://llms.cephei. ai/ for crawling and AI generation. No AI model runs on your WordPress server. * When: only after an administrator clicks Generate llms.txt. Installing, activating, opening the settings page and publishing do not call the generator. * Sent: the configured public website URL in the p query parameter. The direct browser connection also exposes the administrator’s public IP address and ordinary HTTP connection metadata, including Origin, to the service. * Not sent: WordPress cookies, login credentials, private posts or editor changes. The generator request omits credentials and the Referer header. * Processing: the service retrieves publicly accessible website content, uses its crawler and Ollama backend to create an English llms.txt, and returns it. Public content can itself contain personal data; it is part of the crawl. * Storage: the generator processes crawl archives in memory and releases source documents and model context after use. According to the service privacy notice, crawl content, model inputs, results and technical log output are not stored persistently on the generator infrastructure. Temporary in-memory rate-limit counters contain IP-related and website identifiers, timestamps and active locks, not crawl content or results. WordPress stores only the text you explicitly publish and its publication timestamp. Unpublished edits stay in the open tab. * Operation: the service privacy notice describes Cephei-operated infrastructure in Germany, with no external AI providers or use of the data for model training. Retrieving public sources also involves contacting their respective web servers. * Limits: the public service has IP, website and overall capacity limits. The plugin reports a busy service or a rate limit instead of retrying automatically. German user locales open the German website pages; other user locales open the English pages. The browser talks directly to the service so long-running generation does not depend on PHP execution time limits. A website Content-Security-Policy that restricts connect- src needs to allow https://llms.cephei.ai. The generator must send Access-Control- Allow-Origin: * and does not allow credentialed CORS requests. In WordPress, open Plugins > Add New Plugin and search for Cephei llms.txt Generator. 2. Install the plugin by Cephei AG and activate it. 3. Open Settings > llms.txt Generator. 4. Generate, review and publish your text. 5. Open the displayed /llms.txt link to check the public result. For manual installation, upload cephei-llms-txt-generator.zip using Plugins > Add New Plugin > Upload Plugin, then activate it. When switching from the blog download, use the update instructions below to keep your published text. Use a publicly reachable website for generation. A localhost, private intranet, password-protected staging site or website blocked against crawlers cannot be crawled by the public service. You can still enter text manually and test local publication. A current browser with Fetch streams and AbortSignal.timeout is required. WordPress requires permission to install plugins; network installations may require a network administrator for installation. ## FAQ ### Does it write a physical file? No. The publication is stored in WordPress and served at the virtual /llms.txt URL. WordPress must handle this URL. Existing files or other plugins can take priority. ### What if /llms.txt already exists? Publishing is blocked while a physical llms.txt exists in the website root. To publish through this plugin, you must first move, rename or delete that file; keep a backup. The plugin does not overwrite it. Then click Check again in the notice to unlock publication without reloading or losing the editor text. The prerequisites are also checked again automatically after successful generation. These checks only contact your WordPress installation, not the generator. Disable another plugin’s llms.txt feature if it conflicts. If routing cannot be verified, this plugin does not change its saved publication. Clear or bypass CDN/page caches for /llms.txt if they hide updates. ### Does it work when WordPress is in a subdirectory? WordPress files may be in a subdirectory as long as the public home URL is at the domain root and root requests are routed to WordPress. If the public home URL is https://example.com/blog/, this version disables publishing: /blog/llms.txt is not a substitute for /llms.txt. Hosting or root-site integration is needed. The same restriction applies to subdirectory sites in a WordPress multisite. ### What happens when I leave the settings page? The browser warns about unfinished work. Unpublished edits are not saved as a draft. Keep the tab open during generation or use Cancel. The last publication remains unchanged until you explicitly publish again. ### What happens when I deactivate or delete the plugin? Deactivation stops the virtual file but keeps the saved publication for later reactivation. Deleting the plugin removes its stored publication, including site-specific publications in a multisite network. Export any text you want to keep first. The plugin does not create a physical file that survives deactivation. ### How do I switch from the earlier blog download? Both releases use the same plugin folder, main file and stored publication. 1. Copy your published text and any unpublished editor changes as a backup. 2. Open Plugins > Add New Plugin > Upload Plugin and upload the new cephei-llms-txt- generator.zip. 3. Choose Replace current with uploaded. Update the existing installation; do not delete the plugin first, because deletion removes its saved text. 4. Reopen Settings > llms.txt Generator and check the existing text and /llms.txt. The update keeps the publication and its timestamp in the same database entry. It does not generate or publish new content. Multisite publications remain in their respective sites. Copy unpublished work before reloading an old editor tab. ### How do updates work? Directory releases use the standard WordPress.org update mechanism. There is no external updater or license key. The blog release’s Update URI prevents it from discovering directory updates automatically. Install this version once using the ZIP-update steps above; subsequent published releases use WordPress.org updates. ### Where can I get support?
