This should be built into BuddyPress but until it is this plugin works great!

I don't know what happened but somehow I had long random numbers in my slugs and I failed to notice this until I'd already created and added content and I didn't want to have to delete and start over. It was a gamble trying this plugin as it hasn't been updated in a long time, but I can confirm that it works with 4.3.1 and bp 2.3.4
