# Bobs Wishlist for WooCommerce

## Description

Bobs Wishlist for WooCommerce helps shoppers save products they like and return 
to them later. Every included feature is free, with no premium subscription, licence
key or external wishlist service.

**What shoppers can do**

 * Save and remove products with a heart button.
 * Browse saved products on a dedicated My Wishlist page.
 * Save a guest wishlist in their browser without signing in.
 * Keep a wishlist in their WordPress customer account when signed in.
 * Merge browser favourites into their account wishlist when they sign in.

**What shop owners can customise**

 * Show hearts on standard product listing and individual product pages.
 * Place listing hearts on the left or right of supported product cards.
 * Add a wishlist link with a WordPress widget, block or shortcode.
 * Choose a text link, coloured button with text or circular heart-only button, 
   with optional saved-product counter.
 * Set button background and hover colours, including individual widget and shortcode
   overrides.
 * Optionally place the wishlist beside a recognised header basket, with separate
   left/right and appearance settings. This is off by default.
 * Show a link under WooCommerce My Account.
 * Change wording, accent colours and the maximum number of saved items.

Compatible with classic WooCommerce product templates and supported WooCommerce 
Product Collection layouts using the Product Image block. Some custom product layouts
and JavaScript-rendered product grids require manual button placement; automatic
insertion cannot be guaranteed for every theme.

**Shortcodes**

 * `[bobs_wishlist]` – full wishlist page.
 * `[bobs_wishlist_link]` – simple wishlist link and count.
 * `[bobs_wishlist_widget]` – configurable compact link.
 * `[bobs_wishlist_widget style="heart"]` – circular heart link.
 * `[bobs_wishlist_widget style="button" color="#173f34" hover_color="#d9ff68"]`–
   button with custom background and hover colours.
 * `[bobs_wishlist_button id="123"]` – product wishlist button (replace 123 with
   the product ID).

**Privacy and donations**

Guest lists are stored in that visitor’s browser. Signed-in lists are stored in 
WordPress user metadata. WordPress privacy export and erasure tools can handle stored
account wishlist data. No wishlist information is sent to a remote Bobs Stuff service.
An optional Buy Me A Coffee / PayPal link appears only on the plugin’s own settings
screen, and can be hidden for six months. Donation is not required for any feature.

### Privacy

The guest wishlist is stored in the visitor’s browser localStorage. Logged-in account
wishlists are stored in WordPress user metadata and can be exported or erased with
WordPress privacy tools. Store owners should mention this processing in their website’s
privacy information. Using the optional donation link takes an administrator to 
PayPal only when clicked; it does not send data to PayPal automatically.

This plugin provides 1 block.

 *   Bobs Wishlist Link Link to the shopper's wishlist with an optional heart and
   live product count.

## Installation

 1. Install and activate WooCommerce.
 2. In WordPress, go to Plugins > Add New Plugin > Upload Plugin. Upload this plugin
    ZIP, then activate it.
 3. Open WooCommerce > Wishlist. Choose where hearts appear and how the buttons should
    look.
 4. The plugin creates a My Wishlist page on first activation. Add the page to your
    website menu if you wish.
 5. If you want a link beside the basket, turn on the optional header-basket setting.
    If you already placed a wishlist widget in the header, leave automatic basket placement
    off to avoid duplicates.
 6. Check the result in both desktop and mobile views and try saving products as a 
    guest and signed-in customer.

When upgrading an existing installation, replace/update the plugin without deleting
it first. This preserves settings, wishlist page and saved customer data.

## FAQ

### Is Bobs Wishlist completely free?

Yes. All features included in the plugin are available at no cost. There are no 
paid-only screens, licence checks or subscriptions. Donations are voluntary.

### Can visitors create a wishlist without an account?

Yes. Guest favourites are saved in that browser’s local storage. They are not automatically
available on another device unless the visitor signs in and their items merge into
an account wishlist.

### What happens when someone signs in?

The plugin merges saved guest products into the customer’s account wishlist. Saved
account items remain available when they sign in on another device.

### How do I move product hearts left or right?

Go to WooCommerce > Wishlist > Heart position on product listings. This controls
supported product listing grids, not the single-product save button or the header
basket setting.

### How do I show the wishlist beside my basket?

Go to WooCommerce > Wishlist and enable Show a wishlist heart beside the header 
basket. Choose Left or Right of basket, and choose the header appearance separately.
The plugin recognises several common mini-cart and wcmenucart patterns. Custom headers
might need a manually placed widget, block or shortcode.

### Why do I see two wishlist buttons in the header?

You may have both a widget/shortcode and automatic header-basket placement enabled.
Remove the duplicate widget or switch automatic header placement off.

### How do I make the button a circle with just a heart?

Select Heart-only button in the widget or shop defaults, or use `[bobs_wishlist_widget
style="heart"]`. Compact links also become circular on smaller screens.

### Does it work with block themes?

The Bobs Wishlist Link block can be placed in a page, header, footer or template.
Some WooCommerce product layouts are supported directly; custom grids and JavaScript-
rendered product blocks may need manual placement.

### Does the plugin reserve stock or add items to a basket?

No. Saving a product to the wishlist does not reserve inventory or create a cart
item or order.

### Will deactivating the plugin delete wishlist data?

No. Deactivation leaves the saved WordPress user metadata, plugin settings and wishlist
page in place.

### Where is wishlist data stored?

Guest product IDs use browser localStorage key `bobsWishlistProducts_v1`. Account
wishlist IDs use WordPress user meta key `_bobs_wishlist_products`. The plugin does
not make background requests to PayPal or Bobs Stuff.

### Does it have a Pro version?

No Pro version is included in this plugin. All current features are free. Any future
separately distributed add-on would be independent of WordPress.org update delivery
for the free plugin.
