Real visitors never see or fill in this field, but simple spam bots that auto- fill every input on a page will. When the honeypot field is filled in, Contact Form 7 silently marks the submission as spam and no notification email is sent. Key points: * No settings screen — install, activate, and it works. * The hidden field’s name is generated randomly per site, so it is harder for spam operators to learn and target. * No CAPTCHA and no visible challenge for real visitors. * Does nothing if Contact Form 7 is not installed or active — no admin notices, no errors. * No external requests, no tracking, no data ever leaves your site. This plugin does not modify your form templates, and it does not guarantee that all spam will be blocked. Upload the plugin files to the `/wp-content/plugins/blanc-honeypot-for-contact- form-7` directory, or install the plugin through the Plugins screen in WordPress directly. 2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ screen in WordPress. 3. Make sure Contact Form 7 is installed and active. No further configuration is needed. ## FAQ ### Does this replace Contact Form 7’s own spam filtering? No. It adds one additional, invisible check. Contact Form 7’s own spam filtering( and Akismet, if you use it) still runs as normal. ### Will this block all spam? No plugin can guarantee that. This reduces spam from simple bots that fill in every field on a form; it is not a complete solution against sophisticated or human-operated spam. ### Does this add anything visible to my form? No. The added field is hidden from sighted visitors and marked `aria-hidden="true"` so screen readers skip it too. ### Does this send any data outside my site? No. Everything happens locally on your server; the plugin makes no external requests. ### What happens if I deactivate Contact Form 7? The plugin stops doing anything. It only hooks into Contact Form 7’s own filters, so with Contact Form 7 inactive there is nothing for it to hook into. ### What data does this plugin store? Two options: the randomly generated field name, and a count of blocked submissions( shown on the Plugins screen).
