The Bizyhood for Publishers suite offers you several features out of the box:

Bizyhood for Publishers is the perfect complement to your online advertising efforts and allows you to offer features to all the local businesses in your community in a simple, automated and affordable manner.

The Bizyhood for Publishers’ plugin requires 2 API keys in order to operate. Without these keys, the business directory will be empty and none of the widgets will return any results. If you don’t have API keys, contact support@bizyhood.com

Installation

From your WordPress dashboard

  1. Visit ‘Plugins > Add New’
  2. Search for ‘Bizyhood’
  3. Activate Bizyhood from your Plugins page. (You will be greeted with a Welcome page.)

From WordPress.org

  1. Download Bizyhood.
  2. Upload the ‘bizyhood’ directory to your ‘/wp-content/plugins/’ directory, using your favorite method (ftp, sftp, scp, etc…)
  3. Activate Bizyhood from your Plugins page. (You will be greeted with a Welcome page.)

Once Activated

  • The plugin will not function without your Bizyhood API keys. If you don’t have them, contact support@bizyhood.com
  • If you do not have your Bizyhood API keys (there are 2), you will see a notice to enter them. (Bizyhood will not function without them.)
  • Visit ‘Settings > Bizyhood’ and add the 2 API keys and choose your Business Directory and Directory Signup Pages (a Business Directory page will be created by the plugin and should be setup correctly out of the box. The Directory Signup Page must be created by hand.
  • More detailed installation and usage instructions can be found at http://setup.bizyhood.com

Once Configured

  • Bizyhood does its best to make your Business Directory look and feel right with just-about any WordPress theme. You may need to adjust some styling on your own to make everything look pristine.
  • There are publisher-specific customizations you can make. Please review the documentation at http://setup.bizyhood.com for more details.
  • Bizyhood integrates with Yoast SEO and All-In-One SEO to automatically add business directory listings into your sitemap. If you are not using one of these SEO tools, you will not get business directory listings added to your sitemap.

Can I use my existing WordPress theme?

Yes! Bizyhood works out-of-the-box with nearly every WordPress theme.

Do I have the ability to review/edit business listings?

Yes! Once you have been approved, you will have access to a Publisher Dashboard that offers you the ability to add, modify and delete business listings in your community. Your local businesses also have the ability to add their own listings (if they aren’t already listed).

Bizyhood is a software company based in Asbury Park, NJ that believes in the power and familiarity of the local community. We offer tools and technology that allow quality hyperlocal digital publishers to thrive and be able to participate in the online world. The next iteration of journalism needs to identify revenue sources other than advertising, and be more focused on engagement tools for local businesses as well as “intent-based” search capabilities and mobile.
