now and flexibly defer payment to a time that suits their individual needs best––
whether they shop online, in-store, via phone or email. At the same time, merchants
get paid upfront while benefiting from full payment default risk protection as well
as higher conversion rates and basket sizes in their checkout.

Billie is the B2B BNPL solution of choice for established brands and ambitious growth
companies. To date, more than 400,000 business customers have already paid via Billie.

## FAQ

### Why does my order fail with “Invoice ID not set”?

Billie needs your own invoice number when an order is captured, and the plugin does
not generate
one. It reads the number from PDF Invoices & Packing Slips, Germanized
Pro, German Market, or from the invoice field on the order screen. If none of those
supplies a number, the capture stops and the order gets a note saying so.

Two setups look correct but supply nothing:

 * **PDF Invoices & Packing Slips** ships with invoice documents switched off. Enable
   the invoice
document under WooCommerce -> PDF Invoices -> Documents -> Invoice.
 * **Germanized** only has invoicing in the Pro edition. The free edition never
   creates invoice
    numbers.

You can always enter a number by hand in the Billie box on the order screen.

### Can an order be captured in several parts?

No. Each order is captured once, for its full amount, when it reaches the status
configured under
Authorization & Capture. Partial captures would need a separate
invoice number per shipment, and the supported invoicing plugins issue one number
per order.

### Can I still change the order amount after checkout?

Yes, until the order is captured. Edit the line items as usual and the new total
is sent to Billie
 on save. Increases are re-checked against the buyer’s limit;
reductions apply directly. Once the order has been captured the amount is fixed
by the invoice.

## Changelog

#### 2.4.1

 * Fix: The development files .eslintrc and README.md are no longer included in
   the release package
 * Update: Minimum requirements raised to WordPress 6.4 and WooCommerce 9.0.0. Older
WooCommerce versions could not complete a Billie order: up to 3.4 the checkout
failed or rejected the order, up to 3.6 saving a Billie order crashed, and up
to 8.x the legacy REST API could still trigger that crash. WooCommerce 9.0 requires
   WordPress 6.4
 * Update: The plugin author is now shown as Billie GmbH, linking to billie.io
 * Update: Build toolchain upgraded to @wordpress/scripts 36 on Node 24; build tooling
   moved to devDependencies
 * Update: Bump build tooling dependencies to patched versions to resolve Dependabot
security alerts – none of the affected packages is part of the shipped plugin

#### 2.4.0

 * Fix: The payment due date shown on the order screen and printed on the invoice
PDF ignored the configured payment term and was always 7 days after completion
 * Fix: A cancelled Billie invoice no longer shows bank details, a due date and
a payment reference on the order screen and the invoice PDF – the invoice has
been written off, so nothing is payable
 * Fix: An order cancelled at Billie can no longer be moved back to the capture
status, which made the shop show the order as settled while Billie had closed
   it
 * Fix: Marking orders complete from the orders list bypassed the invoice-number
check, so the capture failed instead of the status change being refused
 * Fix: A buyer who closes the Billie payment page without completing it is no longer
reported to the merchant as a declined payment – Billie cancels the authorisation
in that case, which is not a refusal, so the order note now says so and Billie
stays available for a new order
 * Fix: The WooCommerce transaction ID now holds the Billie order reference instead
of Billie’s collection IBAN, which put a bank account number into the order header,
exports and some emails. Orders created before 2.4.0 keep their stored value
 * Fix: The Blocks checkout now shows the payment method title configured in the
gateway settings, as the classic checkout and the order confirmation already
did. Shops with a custom title will see it in the Blocks checkout from this version
   on
 * Fix: The Blocks checkout now shows the missing-billing-company warning before
submit, as the classic checkout already did, and the warning is translated; it
had been hardcoded German for every locale and was never rendered
 * Fix: The invoice-number hint told merchants to install PDF Invoices while PDF
Invoices was installed and enabled but had not created the invoice for that order
   yet
 * Fix: 26 merchant-facing messages had no German translation, among them every
capture-failure and invoice-number message; one translation was orphaned by a
changed source string. The translation template was regenerated and now covers
   all strings
 * Fix: German translation misspelled “Rechnung” as “Rechung” in the order note
   written after a capture
 * Fix: Order notes described a cancelled Billie order and a cancelled invoice as“
   deleted”
 * Fix: Classic checkout escaped the line breaks it had just generated in the payment
   description
 * Fix: PHP 8.4 and newer logged an “Implicitly marking parameter as nullable is
deprecated” notice for every API request method, on every page load
 * Fix: Opening a Billie order in the admin logged a deprecation notice for wc_enqueue_js,
   removed in favour of wp_add_inline_script
 * Add: An order note records that cancelling a Billie invoice makes Billie write
the outstanding amount off as a credit note
 * Update: Tested up to WordPress 7.1 and WooCommerce 11.1.2

#### 2.3.0

 * Security: Add exit after wp_redirect() to prevent continued execution after redirect
 * Security: Remove OAuth access token from debug log to prevent credential exposure
 * Security: Change client_secret admin field to password type to protect credentials
   in UI
 * Fix: Checkout logo could not load – the URL was built from the npm package name
   instead of the plugin slug
 * Fix: Blocks checkout script was registered without its declared dependencies
 * Fix: Order screen meta boxes did not appear and the invoice number could not
   be saved with HPOS enabled
 * Fix: A completed order whose capture had failed could not be given an invoice
   number, making a retry impossible
 * Fix: Saving an order with an empty invoice field discarded a stored invoice number
 * Fix: Bank transfer details showed the shop name as account owner instead of Billie
   GmbH
 * Fix: Declined payments were reported as technical failures, skipping the decline
   reason handling
 * Fix: Classic checkout logo pointed at the wrong directory
 * Add: A failed capture is recorded on the order, shown on the order screen, and
retried once an invoice number is supplied
 * Add: Status changes that would capture are refused on the order screen while
   no invoice number exists
 * Add: Sandbox orders use a unique merchant reference so repeated test setups do
   not collide
 * Add: Include plugin version in HPP checkout session create payload
 * Update: Bump axios, webpack and transitive dependencies to patched versions
 * Update: Tested up to WordPress 7.0.4 and WooCommerce 11.0.1

#### 2.2.0

 * Add: Moved all settings to gateway options page
 * Fix: Better interoperability with other plugins

#### 2.1.0

 * Fix: Better interoperability with other plugins

#### 2.0.1

 * Add: Billie is now in the official WooCommerce plugin directory

#### 2.0.0

 * Add: Migration to Billie API version 2.0
